Onterris is seeking a Full-Time Sample Receiving Technician for our Deer Park, TX laboratory. You will receive environmental samples, document them, and ensure proper storage and labeling to support client expectations.

Ideal candidates have basic lab knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a safety‑minded environment. The role runs weekdays with opportunities to grow within our mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some lab experience is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety.
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written).
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Well organized and have an attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Receives environmental samples into the laboratory according to SOPs
• Performs data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
• Label sample containers, store them in appropriate locations and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests.
• Assists in sample bottle preparation
• Assists in sample management/archiving and disposal
• Assists in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed
• Assists in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed
• Participates in focus teams to improve efficiency
• Comply with our Quality Assurance Program
• Comply with our Health and Safety Plan
• Other duties as assigned

A Day in the Life

Sample Receiving Technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples received, documented and stored correctly. You'll be responsible for notifying the supervisor to receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to meet the expectations of our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). You will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

Our Deerpark, TX Laboratory is currently seeking a Full-Time Sample Receiving Technician to join our team. The compensation range for this role is $20 - $22/hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

Your Expertise and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Some lab experience is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions
• Well organized and have an attention to detail

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Works in an office, laboratory, and/or warehouse environment
• Sitting, standing, and walking
• Must have the ability to stand and move about for approximately 80+% of the shift.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely and to lift/manipulate smaller weight items throughout the day
• Ability to operate computers and standard lab/office equipment
