Job summary

ALS is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician (P2) in Reno to work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs. The role requires handling grinding, sieving, and crushing tasks under supervision, with attention to cleanliness and safety.

You will maintain production logs, follow safety policies, and support the laboratory team in achieving accurate results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is required.
• Sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes sedentary responsibilities.
• Be cleanly-shaven to wear protective equipment.

About The Role

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) will work with client samples and prepare them for analysis in our labs.

Responsibilities

• Ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, splitting under direct supervision
• Loading and unloading drying ovens under supervision
• Maintain own production logs;
• General cleaning duties for basic lab cleanliness;
• May assists with layout duties/tasks
• Handling compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, etc.;
• Inspecting equipment and inform senior employee if adjustment is required;
• analytical quality
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned.

About You

• Good hand-eye coordination
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic alpha/numeric comprehension
• Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).
