Job summary

Eide Bailly's State & Local Tax (SALT) internship is open for January–April 2027 across multiple locations including Denver, Minneapolis, and Boulder. The role offers part-time hours (20 per week) and exposure to diverse SALT engagements.

You will assist with SALT projects, perform research, prepare workpapers, and support compliance, consulting, audit, and planning tasks. Strong Excel and AI tool skills are preferred, and work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and have an interest in tax.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
• Interest in developing multi-state tax knowledge and staying current with legislation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of State & Local Tax projects, including sales and use tax, property tax, state income and franchise tax, and credits and incentives engagements.
• Research state tax issues to support client engagements and project teams.
• Gather, organize, and analyze client information; perform technical tax research; prepare workpapers and memoranda; and support client compliance, consulting, audit, and planning projects across multiple SALT disciplines.
• Assist with preparation of state and local tax returns and related compliance activities.
• Assist in responding to inquiries, notices and information requests from state and local taxing authorities.
• Use AI tools to organize and analyze large data sets.
• Research and write memoranda on state and local tax issues for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
• Support a variety of consulting projects, including state tax planning, M&A due diligence, credits & incentives projects, sales/use tax, and property tax.
• Collaborate with professionals across the firm to develop technical, analytical, and client service skills.
