Job Description

The Tax Senior Manager, SALT - Credits & Incentives is responsible for advising clients on credit & incentive opportunities related to their business objectives, recommending alternative courses of action, and identifying methods for compliance with relevant statutes and regulations. This role involves marketing, networking, business development, and staying abreast of policy changes. The Senior Manager will collaborate with Core Tax Principals and Directors to provide expertise to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Research complex credits & incentives situations, analyze findings, and develop relationships with state tax and economic development agencies.
• Review income tax returns to identify significant credit opportunities and evaluate compliance processes, providing automated solutions.
• Draft memorandums and documentation on credits & incentives, review client operations, and develop strategies.
• Handle tax controversy issues, including drafting responses and representing clients before tax authorities.
• Utilize research databases and software for credits & incentives tasks.
• Provide technical client service, conduct negotiations, and develop strategies to maximize credits & incentives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise daily work of SALT Senior Associates and Associates, review work products, and evaluate performance.
• Train team members on tax software and contribute to their professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field; Master’s or J.D. preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in state and local/multistate credits & incentives.
• Supervisory experience and CPA certification required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with tax software, excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
