Job description

You've got passion. Make it work for you.

Winnipesaukee Crossing 1425 Lake Shore Rd Gilford, New Hampshire

Whether you’re currently an Assistant Manager or an experienced stylist ready to take on full leadership responsibility, we’d love to connect with you.

Earn a guaranteed base wage plus bonuses based on salon performance, with average pay between $27–$32/hr. Includes 401k with 50% match, paid training, and career growth opportunities. Must be a licensed cosmetologist or barber (3+ years) with strong haircutting skills and a passion for motivating and leading a team. Grow into a leadership role where your skills and drive make a real impact.

Join your locally owned Great Clips® salon team and step into a leadership role where you can make a real impact. If you’re a licensed stylist who enjoys coaching others, building strong teams, and helping a salon run at its best, this could be the next step in your career.

Why you’ll love it here

Great Clips salons give Salon Managers the opportunity to do what you love, along with the support, structure, and resources to lead confidently and build a strong team culture:

  • Great, reliable hourly wage plus tips
  • Flexible scheduling with dependable retail hours
  • Job stability and a steady flow of customers driven by the marketing of the largest hair salon brand in the world — no self-marketing to find clients, booth rent or hidden fees, and no appointments required
  • Potential for recognition for great performance and team success
  • Exclusive discounts on professional salon tools and products
  • Leadership and technical training to help you grow your skills, the team, and the salon
  • The opportunity to coach, develop, and motivate a team of stylists
  • Clear systems, expectations, and operational support
  • Innovative salon technology — like Online Check-In and the Great Clips App — that helps take care of the busy work so you can focus on what you love most: delivering great haircuts
  • A team environment where stylists help each other succeed
  • Consistent income you can count on — without upselling pressure, commission stress, or competition for walk-ins

Employee offerings like medical benefits and paid time off (PTO) may be available at certain locations.

What you bring to the team

To join a Great Clips salon team as a Salon Manager, you’ll need:

  • Proven leadership ability or readiness to take on full salon responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills and the desire to motivate, develop, and support a team
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage day-to‑day salon operations
  • Comfort with technology and salon tools (scheduling systems, metrics, and reports)
  • A goal‑oriented mindset with a focus on team performance and customer experience
  • Adaptability and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment

FAQ
  • Q: Is this a hands‑on leadership role?
A: Yes. Salon Managers lead the team, manage salon operations, and deliver haircuts, depending on salon needs.
  • Q: Do I need prior salon management experience?
A: Previous leadership experience is helpful but not always required. Many Salon Managers are promoted from within after showing strong leadership skills.
  • Q: Do Salon Managers cut hair?
A: Yes. Salon Managers split their time between salon management responsibilities and providing services to customers. The balance between administrative time and floor time varies by location and reflects the specific needs of the salon.
  • Q: What training is provided for Salon Managers?
A: Salon Managers receive leadership and technical training, along with ongoing support to help them confidently lead their teams. The LEADS development program for salon managers provides training in the skills needed to guide salon teams in brand delivery and achieve GREAT results.

All Great Clips® salons are independently owned and operated by third-party franchisees. Franchisees, not Great Clips, Inc., are responsible for all hiring and personnel matters at their individual salons.
