Sales Representative for Hybrid85 and Cover Crop Exchange

Position: Sales Representative

Location: Remote (Flexible hours available; Eastern Time Zone a plus)

Hybrid85 and Cover Crop Exchange are leading e-commerce platforms in the agriculture industry. Hybrid85 specializes in non-GMO corn seed and biological inputs and Cover Crop Exchange operates as a double-sided marketplace for cover crop seeds. Our custom in-house software and CRM tooling allow us to efficiently manage orders, customer relationships, and internal communication across all platforms.

Role Overview:

We're seeking a Sales Representative with strong agronomy knowledge who thrives in a phone-intensive, computer-based environment. This role requires 5-6 hours of daily phone time (during busy seasons), building relationships with farmers and agricultural consultants across different regions. You'll help farmers improve their operations through sustainable practices while driving sales growth across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle 5-6 hours (during busy seasons) of daily phone-based sales activities, including cold calling, lead follow-up, and customer consultations
  • Provide expert agriculture consulting across different regions and farming systems
  • Manage incoming inquiries via phone, email, and text with prompt, professional responses
  • Build and maintain relationships with progressive farmers
  • Process orders and ensure timely delivery using our CRM and e-commerce systems
  • Educate customers on sustainable agriculture practices including:
  • Cover cropping strategies and species selection
  • No-till and reduced tillage systems
  • Soil health improvement techniques
  • Integrated pest management
  • Nutrient cycling and biological inputs
  • Maintain detailed customer records and interaction logs in our CRM
  • Collaborate with team to develop ag-focused sales strategies
  • Support marketing efforts by gathering customer success stories and testimonials
  • Participate in virtual and occasional in-person agriculture conferences and field events

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong agronomy knowledge - must be able to discuss soil health, cover crops, biological inputs, and sustainable farming practices at an expert level
  • Proven ability to handle 5-6 hours of phone time daily with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Excellent computer skills including CRM systems, email management, and e-commerce platforms
  • Experience in agricultural sales or consulting
  • Ability to consult effectively across different agricultural regions and cropping systems
  • Strong organizational skills for managing high-volume phone and digital communications
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and sell consultatively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal education or certification in agronomy, soil science, or sustainable agriculture
  • Experience with biological inputs, cover crop systems, or organic/regenerative transitions
  • Knowledge of regional farming practices across multiple states/regions
  • Familiarity with shared communication tools (Slack, Missive or similar)
  • Experience working with farmers adopting progressive practices
  • Flexibility to work Eastern Time Zone hours or provide weekend availability (during busy seasons)

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $55,000 - $75,000
  • Commission: Performance-based incentives with total earning potential up to $120,000+ annually
