The Opportunity

As the Senior SFCC Technical Architect, you will own the technical architecture, backend development strategy, and platform integrity of a complex Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment supporting a large-scale, nationwide eCommerce operation.

You will lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade solutions, architect complex integrations, drive platform optimization initiatives, and establish engineering best practices that enable continued growth at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Architectural Leadership

• Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable Salesforce Commerce Cloud solutions leveraging SFRA and modern commerce best practices.
• Define and implement backend architecture strategies to support complex product catalogues and customer journeys.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, platforms, and third-party solutions to drive innovation and enhance platform capabilities.
• Act as the technical authority for Commerce Cloud backend development and platform architecture.
• Design, build, and maintain robust API-driven integrations across enterprise systems and third-party platforms.
• Architect connections between Commerce Cloud and key platforms including CRM, ERP, payment, product configuration, analytics, and integration middleware solutions.
• Ensure integrations are scalable, resilient, secure, and future-proof.

Performance, Scalability & Reliability

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across the platform.
• Develop advanced caching, optimization, and monitoring strategies to support high-volume transaction periods.
• Drive platform reliability, availability, and scalability initiatives.

Engineering Excellence & Governance

• Establish development standards, architectural principles, and code quality frameworks.
• Conduct architecture and code reviews while mentoring development teams.
• Champion security, compliance, and best practice development methodologies.

Platform Operations & Release Management

• Oversee platform upgrades, maintenance, and ongoing optimization.
• Manage backend processes including catalog synchronization, inventory updates, and scheduled platform jobs.
• Design and maintain modern CI/CD pipelines and release processes that enable efficient and low-risk deployment cycles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Digital teams to deliver strategic initiatives.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery lifecycles.

Required Experience & Technical Expertise

Salesforce Commerce Cloud

• 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce Commerce Cloud development and architecture experience.
• Deep expertise across SFRA, MVC frameworks, service architecture, job frameworks, and modern commerce implementations.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software architecture patterns.
• Experience developing and customizing complex SFCC cartridges and integrations.

Integration & API Development

• Proven track record delivering sophisticated integrations across CRM, ERP, payments, middleware, and third-party commerce technologies.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API architecture and integration standards.
• Experience working within modern cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices, automated deployments, source control, and DevOps methodologies.
