Job summary

Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. is seeking a Salesforce Developer Intern to support the Salesforce development and DevOps team across the software delivery lifecycle.

You will contribute to platform configuration, metadata management, automated testing, integrations, and release pipeline activities in a production-grade Salesforce environment. You will learn from experienced developers, administrators, and release managers while applying Agile practices and collaborating with internal teams

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related technical field.
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages (Java, C#, Python).
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL; interested in APIs and data integration.

Responsibilities

• Assist Salesforce administration and configuration, including page layouts and permission sets.
• Develop with Apex and Lightning Web Components; support integrations with Snowflake and Data 360.
• Write automated unit tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD activities.
• Create test plans, perform testing, document results, and report defects.
• Follow Cambridge SDLC, configuration, coding, and quality gate processes.
• Evaluate design options and explain tradeoffs with guidance from engineers.
• Document workflows and participate in Agile sprint planning and user story work.

Job Summary

The Salesforce Developer Intern will support Cambridge’s Salesforce development and DevOps team across the software delivery lifecycle. Interns will contribute to platform configuration, metadata management, automated testing, integrations, and release pipeline activities in a production-grade Salesforce environment while learning from experienced developers, administrators, and release managers.

Key Deliverables And Responsibilities

• Support product backlog priorities through Salesforce administration and configuration, including page layouts and permission sets.
• Develop Salesforce solutions using Apex and Lightning Web Components and support integrations involving Snowflake, Data 360, and Cambridge-developed services.
• Write automated unit tests, participate in code reviews and pair programming, and contribute to build and release activities.
• Create test plans and test cases, perform testing, document results, and report defects.
• Apply Cambridge software development lifecycle, configuration, coding, testing, quality gate, and CI/CD practices.
• Evaluate design, configuration, and coding options and explain tradeoffs with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Document workflows and participate in Agile team activities, including sprint planning and work with user stories.

What We Are Looking For

• Current undergraduate student pursuing Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming with experience in Java, C#, Python, or a comparable language.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL, with interest in APIs, events, consumers, and data integration.
• Problem-solving ability, initiative, accountability, eagerness to learn, and willingness to collaborate.
• Interest in Salesforce, Software as a Service, software development, or solution engineering.
• Prior Salesforce exposure is helpful but not required.

Program Summary

Cambridge’s Next Step 11-week paid summer internship program (May 17 – July 30) gives students the opportunity to gain valuable insight into both their chosen field and the financial service industry while working on meaningful projects that contribute to business outcomes. Each intern is partnered with a professional mentor and participates in our professional development program, which includes industry education, career workshops, leadership panels, and networking events. Nearly 30% of interns return to Cambridge as full-time associates.

Location

All internships are on-site, operating out of our Phoenix, AZ or Fairfield, IA offices. Apartment-style housing is available for Fairfield candidates, and some positions may be eligible to work out of our West Des Moines satellite office.

Work Authorization

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to accommodate temporary student work authorizations, including initial Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Posting Window

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning in November. Internships are expected to remain posted until January 15, but may close earlier if filled. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for greatest consideration.

Compensation

$17-$26 per hour depending upon location, role, and year in school. Interns also receive 2 paid holidays and 2 days of paid time off across the summer.
