Salesforce Developer
Location: Houston, Texas (On-Site)
Role Overview
A skilled and versatile Salesforce Developer is sought to support a Commercial & Industrial (C&I) business unit. The successful candidate will work with the development lead to prioritize and deliver on Salesforce initiatives, provide technical guidance to offshore teams, and support production issues. This position requires an adaptable and collaborative individual comfortable with both development and support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the development lead to align on priorities and deliver C&I initiatives.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions across the full development stack.
- Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and internal/external systems.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to offshore development teams, including code reviews and ticket clarification.
- Triage, diagnose, and resolve Salesforce production issues.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and administrators to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Maintain and enhance existing automation, configuration, and platform components.
- Uphold platform security, governance, and development best practices throughout the SDLC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands‑on Salesforce development experience.
- Proficiency in Apex, including triggers, classes, batch, scheduled, queueable, and future jobs.
- Experience building UI solutions using Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura Components, and Visualforce.
- Ability to generate PDFs within Salesforce using Visualforce‑based rendering or third‑party tools.
- Experience with inbound REST APIs, outbound REST callouts, and SOAP web services.
- Familiarity with event‑driven integration patterns including Platform Events, Change Data Capture (CDC), and Outbound Messages.
- Experience with Named Credentials, Auth Providers, and External Services.
- Hands‑on experience with middleware or ETL platforms such as MuleSoft or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Salesforce configuration including custom objects, fields, and relationships.
- Experience creating and managing Email Templates in both Classic and Lightning formats.
- Ability to build Reports, Dashboards, and custom Report Types.
- Understanding of the Salesforce security model, including Permission Sets, Profiles, and sharing rules.
- Experience with Flow, validation rules, formula fields, and roll‑up summary fields.
- Familiarity with deployment tools including Change Sets, Salesforce DX, and Metadata API.
- Understanding of the Salesforce data model and governor limits.
- Ability to take direction from a lead and self‑manage delivery against shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with offshore teams.
- Comfortable switching between development and production support responsibilities.
- Hands‑on experience with GitHub for version control.
- Salesforce Platform Developer I certification (or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Vlocity CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) and Vlocity Product Console.
- Hands‑on experience with OmniStudio OmniScripts, Integration Procedures, and DataRaptors.
- Familiarity with Vlocity Templates and Document Templates.
- Experience with Salesforce Energy & Utility Cloud.
- Business knowledge of the electric industry, including C&I customer segments and utility operations.
- Prior experience in a hybrid onshore/offshore delivery model.
- Familiarity with DevOps tooling such as Salesforce DX and Git.
- Salesforce Platform Developer II, OmniStudio Developer, or Administrator certification.
