Salesforce Administrator - Catholic Energies
Nov 1, 2026
About the role
Catholic Energies is hiring a Salesforce Administrator to own the CRM that runs our entire mission: a pipeline of solar, energy-efficiency, and reforestation projects for dioceses, parishes, religious orders, and Catholic schools across the U.S. Our Salesforce org is the system of record for every institution we serve, every project we develop, and every dollar of mission‑aligned financing we arrange.
You will succeed a long‑tenured administrator who built much of the org and will overlap with you for a structured handover. This is a hands‑on role with real ownership: you will be the one person who understands how our data, integrations, and workflows fit together, and you will shape how they evolve.
Catholic Energies is a mission‑driven nonprofit grounded in Laudato Si'. We help Catholic institutions act as stewards of creation through clean energy procurement, solar projects, carbon drawdown, and blended‑finance capital. Our work spans across the U.S.
Location: Remote (Washington, DC.-based); occasional travel for team meetings. Type: Part‑time (20-25 hrs/week) or contract, with potential to grow. Reports to: Executive Director.
What you will do
Own the org
- Administer our Salesforce org end to end: users, profiles, permission sets, security, releases, and sandbox management.
- Maintain and extend our data model, including custom objects, a 21‑stage project pipeline on Opportunity, Program Management (PMDM) objects, and our ecclesiastical‑institution hierarchy that models dioceses, parishes, and religious orders.
- Build and maintain Flows, validation rules, reports, and dashboards that leadership uses to run the organization.
Keep the data trustworthy
- Own data quality: deduplication, account hierarchy integrity, import and cleanup projects, and documentation of data standards.
- Manage licensed third‑party datasets loaded into Salesforce in compliance with their license terms.
- Support periodic data loads from the Official Catholic Directory and partner sources.
Support integrations
- Partner with our developer and AI lead on integrations: web‑form middleware (Node.js on Heroku/Netlify) that posts to Salesforce, an email/mailing interface, and an internal AI assistant that queries Salesforce through a least‑privilege integration user.
- Maintain integration users, connected apps, API permissions, and scheduled jobs; troubleshoot when a form or sync fails.
Enable the team
- Train staff, write how‑to documentation, and field day‑to‑day user questions.
- Capture and document the outgoing administrator's institutional knowledge during the handover period.
- Recommend improvements and keep the org aligned with Salesforce release cycles.
Who we are looking for
Required
- Salesforce Certified Administrator (ADM 201) and 3+ years administering a production Salesforce org.
- Hands‑on experience with Flow, custom objects and relationships, permission sets, reports, and dashboards.
- Nonprofit Salesforce experience: Nonprofit Cloud, NPSP, or Program Management Module (PMDM).
- Comfort with data work: Data Loader or Data Import Wizard, SOQL, deduplication, and large cleanups.
- Working understanding of integrations: connected apps, API users, OAuth, and how to troubleshoot an external system that writes to Salesforce.
- Clear writer and patient trainer; able to document what you build so others can follow it.
- Self‑directed and comfortable being the sole Salesforce owner in a small, fast‑moving team.
Preferred
- Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification.
- Familiarity with Catholic institutional structures (dioceses, parishes, religious orders, Catholic schools) or willingness to learn them.
- Exposure to Heroku, Node.js middleware, or REST APIs; basic Git.
- Experience with email marketing integrations (Mailchimp, Brevo or similar).
- Interest in AI‑assisted workflows; our team uses AI tools daily and is building an internal AI assistant on top of Salesforce.
- Alignment with our mission of care for creation and service to the Church.
What we offer and how to apply
- Compensation: $65 per hour, depending on experience and certifications (part‑time or contract).
- Fully remote, flexible schedule, and direct access to the management.
- A structured 4‑6 week handover with the outgoing administrator.
- Mission impact: your work directly enables solar, efficiency, and reforestation projects for Catholic institutions worldwide.
Catholic Energies is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome candidates of all backgrounds who share our commitment to stewardship and human dignity.
