Job Overview – Sales, Use, and Property Tax Manager – 34472 A growing organization is seeking a Sales, Use & Property Tax Manager to join its tax function in Rock Hill, SC. This role will have significant ownership over U.S. sales and use tax, property tax, business licensing, and tax audit processes while working closely with internal business controllers and external tax service providers. The tax function is undergoing a transition to Rock Hill over the next four to five years, creating an opportunity for someone to take ownership of a broad tax function and grow with the organization. This is a highly autonomous role that is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands‑on with the process, managing external providers, solving problems, and serving as a trusted internal resource.
Compensation
To $130K, DOE
- Oversee U.S. sales and use tax compliance across approximately 35 legal entities and 8,000 annual returns.
- Manage property tax filings, business licenses, and related compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with third-party tax providers and review/reconcile data, returns, and filings.
- Manage sales tax audits and serve as the primary contact for internal and external tax inquiries.
- Oversee sales tax compliance for six Canadian entities.
- Partner with business controllers, AP, and other internal teams to ensure accurate reporting, timely payments, and monthly tax chargebacks.
- Utilize SAP and Vertex while partnering with internal teams on technical system support.
- Manage multiple deadlines independently in a highly autonomous, decentralized environment.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with a strong focus on sales/use and property tax.
- Strong experience with U.S. sales and use tax compliance.
- Experience managing high-volume, multi-entity tax data and reconciliations.
- Experience working with third-party tax providers, consultants, or co-sourced tax functions.
- Property tax experience preferred.
- Experience managing or supporting sales tax audits.
- SAP and/or Vertex experience preferred.
- Canadian sales tax experience is a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field preferred.
