Your Day at Lowe's

Sales Specialists are active, moving throughout the store or garden center, answering phones, and engaging with customers. You will discuss project needs, answer questions, and help customers achieve their home improvement goals. You will become a product expert, informing customers about specifications, features, promotions, and financing options to close sales. Your consulting services help ensure customer satisfaction before they leave the store.

You may work in departments such as Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Outlet, Tool Rental, Pro, or Windows & Walls, depending on hiring needs and your skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and communicating product benefits.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers and vendors, providing project estimates, scheduling, processing orders, and following up.
  • If in the Pro Department, focus on external accounts and outside sales.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with vendors to support sales.
  • Perform price reviews and maintain pricing accuracy.
  • Support checkout and customer assistance requests.
  • Train and coach associates on the sales floor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience in customer-facing sales or 6 months Lowe’s retail experience, or equivalent external experience
  • Experience in sales or customer service with sales goals or metrics
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods
  • Minimally lift 25 lbs unassisted or over 25 lbs with assistance
  • Obtain any required sales-related licensure or registration (Lowe's will support and fund this)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in completing customer sales orders
  • Experience promoting product services like installation, delivery, financing, or protection plans
  • Design experience using CAD systems like 20/20
  • Relevant professional certifications
  • Bilingual skills

Travel Requirements

This role does not require regular travel but may occasionally involve travel for meetings, training, or support of neighboring stores.

Working Conditions

Environmental factors vary; you may work indoors or outdoors, exposed to weather and noise. Lifting guidelines limit single lifts to 75 lbs, with team lifts used as needed. Powered equipment use requires proper training.
