Sales Representative II, Spine - Springfield, IL (Finance)

A Day in the Life

The Sales Representative II, Spine is responsible for making field sales calls, soliciting orders, selling assigned Medtronic Spinal and Biologics products, and representing the company in accordance with its policies within the assigned territory. The role involves maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions and reporting back promptly to the district manager. This is a field-based role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Selling implantable devices for specific therapies to physicians, institutions, payors, and other medical staff.
  2. Maintaining consignments and loaner inventory, and moving loaner sets between accounts as needed.
  3. Minimizing non-usage and flight usage for products.
  4. Providing field service and case coverage tailored to customer needs.
  5. Preparing and submitting field visit reports as required.
  6. Keeping customer records up-to-date in accordance with instructions.
  7. Visiting hospitals to solicit orders and seeking new customers.
  8. Handling customer complaints per company policy and escalating beyond scope when necessary.
  9. Recommending new or modified products as appropriate.
  10. Meeting or exceeding sales quotas and increasing market share.
  11. Monitoring competitor practices and informing management.
  12. Participating in meetings, training, trade shows, and assisting in training other sales staff.
  13. Creating and updating an annual business plan.
  14. Submitting reports and adhering to company policies ethically.
  15. Managing profitability within the territory.
  16. Traveling within the territory to cover hospital cases, account calls, and attend events.
  17. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years of sales experience, including 5 years in medical sales.
  • Or, High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of Medtronic Neuroscience Clinical Specialist or Sales Rep I experience plus 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience.
  • Or, Associate's Degree with 5 years of sales experience, including 3 in medical sales.
  • Or, Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of sales experience, including 1 in medical sales.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an operating room setting.
  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Experience in Ortho, Spine, or O.R. settings is preferred.
Additional Job Requirements
  • Regular mobility and interaction with computers and colleagues.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance.
