Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company in Alabama is seeking an Earth moving Sales Representative to maximize the sale of new and used equipment and short- and long-term rentals to customers and prospective customers in the Metro Birmingham area.

You will entertain customers during evening, weekend, and overnight events, communicate value of purchasing premium equipment, develop relationships, and demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous sales experience in heavy equipment preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and part identification abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize sales of new and used equipment in assigned territory.
  • Negotiate rentals and sales contracts with customers.
  • Maintain accurate customer data records.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of product lines and services.
  • Build relationships with customers and provide responsive support.

  • Maximize short and long term rental agreements in assigned territory
  • Assist in the sale of Customer Support Agreements and maintenance programs
  • Maintain accurate customer data records
  • Develop a complete knowledge of our product lines
  • Monitor and report product performance and competitive activity
  • Provide liaison support between customer, TTCO, and our vendors
  • Establish and maintain personal working relationships with customers
  • Negotiate mutually agreeable settlements on customer complaints
  • Perform and provide detailed reports on machine inspections
  • Calling on assigned accounts and prospective accounts in Metro Birmingham and surrounding counties.

Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma or the equivalent (GED) required.
Experience
  • Previous sales experience and a working knowledge of the heavy equipment industry is preferred.
  • Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills required.
  • Advanced sales execution skills

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and parts identification skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephone skills
  • Basic computer program skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
