Posting Description

The Assessment Consultant (education) is the primary consultant and sales territory owner who embodies the consultative sales model to drive revenue. Assessment Consultants are regarded as thought leaders within Pearson’s School Assessment organization. They are well versed in School Assessment product offerings, understanding beyond basic features and benefits, and work closely with customers to determine optimal solutions to meet customer needs.

Assessment Consultants use their professional knowledge of the market, gained from extensive formal education and/or field experiences, to identify and sell solutions that address customer problems (e.g., providing intervention/treatment through accurate diagnosis). They deliver pre-sales consultation support in their geographic areas to guide customers through decision-making. The primary goal is to help Pearson’s School Assessment division achieve sales targets by expanding and uncovering new opportunities, providing content and practice-based consultation, and supporting customers throughout their journey with Pearson.

Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed sales quotas.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Pearson’s District Sales products and services through self-study, collaboration, and training.
  • Understand the Education K-12 vertical, competitive offerings, industry, and territory.
  • Create a strategic business development plan to meet territory objectives.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local funding options.
  • Accurately track activities in CRM (Salesforce).
  • Produce timely sales forecasts.
Additional Skills and Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new sales opportunities through networking and business development efforts.
  • Manage prospecting, customer meetings, and closing sales within the territory.
  • Prepare sales reports and utilize sales analytics.
  • Build relationships within customer accounts to expand sales.
  • Navigate multiple sales cycle steps with decision-makers, influencing high-level decisions.
  • Conduct sales presentations and participate in webinars and RFP processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work independently, articulate market trends, and respond promptly to customer needs. Strong organizational skills and broad knowledge of assessment tools are essential.

Qualifications
  • Degree in education-related fields or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience.
  • Experience selling to high-level decision makers in K-12 education.
  • Established relationships with decision makers like Superintendents and Directors.
  • Excellent communication and business development skills.
  • Organized with effective time and territory management.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%. Comfortable working independently, primarily remotely.
  • Preference to reside in Michigan.
Compensation varies based on skills, experience, and location, with a minimum salary range of $50,000 - $70,000 annually. The role is eligible for a sales incentive plan. Benefits details are available here.
