Penske Buick GMC of Cerritos is seeking a Sales Representative to sell new and used vehicles in a dealership setting. You will aim to achieve gross profit, volume and guest satisfaction while working on-site.

The position features a base hourly rate with commissions; estimated monthly earnings range from $2,577 to $20,973, with potential for overtime and incentives. Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least one year of sales experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is desired.
• Minimum of one year sales experience, preferably in automotive sales.
• Ability to read and comprehend English instructions and information.
• Knowledge of leasing principles, basic math, depreciation, and relevant laws.

Responsibilities

• Generate business through daily traffic and outside sources.
• Assist guests in showroom and sales lot and in selecting a vehicle.
• Explain product performance and arrange test drives for prospects.
• Close sales by overcoming objections and negotiating price.
• Introduce guests to service and parts departments to highlight dealership capabilities.
• Maintain an owner follow-up system to drive repeat and referral business.
• Maintain prospect development and keep up-to-date on products and features.
• Process paperwork, warranties, financing, and liaise with Finance for final steps.
• Meet sales and guest satisfaction objectives set by management.
• Adhere to high ethical standards and maintain professional appearance.

Job description

The Sales Representative is responsible for selling new/used vehicles at dealership standards to achieve gross profit, volume and guest satisfaction.

Position is 100% on-site.

This position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges: Base Hourly Rate of minimum wage plus commission compensation which can range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) with no upper limit. The estimated monthly earnings for this position are $2,577 to $20,973 after factoring in all forms of compensation including hourly pay and commissions/incentive pay and overtime, as applicable.

Essential Duties

• Generates business through daily business traffic and outside sources.
• Assists guests as they enter the dealership showroom or sales lot.
• Assists guests in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to the guest’s responses.
• Fully explains product performance, application, and benefits and offers test drives to all prospects.
• Closes sales by overcoming objections and negotiating price.
• Introduces guests to dealership operations, including the service and parts departments, to emphasize to guests the quality and efficiency of the dealerships service operations.
• Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to guest satisfaction.
• Maintains a prospect development system.
• Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to guests.
• Writes complete sales orders, process paperwork, explains warranties, provisions and financing in accordance with established dealership policies.
• Follows-up with Finance to make sure all stipulations for finalizing the paperwork is complete.
• Maintains and achieves the sales and guest satisfaction objectives set by management.
• Performs other administrative duties as assigned by management.
• Maintains high ethical standards in all actions.
• Maintains professional appearance at all times.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

• A high school diploma or equivalent, desired.
• Minimum of one (1) year sales experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Knowledge of vehicle leasing principles; basic mathematical concepts (such as adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and percentages); equity values and depreciation; and laws that govern retain automotive sales.
• Ability to coordinate activities with other employees; read and comprehend instructions and information in the English language.
• Learn and understand the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail auto sales.
• Use good judgment in challenging situations; pay attention to detail.
• Follow-up with guests and employees; work well with the public; communicate in a professional manner on the phone, internet and in person.
• Use standard office equipment.
• Must have a valid sales driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
