Job summary

Opterra Solutions, Inc. seeks a Business Development Representative to acquire new and returning customers for environmental compliance and vegetation management.

The role blends office and field work across industrial, municipal, airport, rail, and distribution sites within the assigned territory. You will drive annual sales goals, build client and vendor partnerships, and leverage CRM tools to manage prospects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Self-starter with initiative and independent thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized using email, calendars, software
  • Ability to work in a team with sales and operations
  • Strong analytical skills with data collection, tracking and analysis

Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of techniques including face-to-face sales, telephone sales, cold calling, emails, conferences, networking, and similar daily
  • Establish and develop client and vendor partnerships
  • Visit multiple prospects daily and attempt to attain their business
  • Manage your clients and potential clients through a CRM system
  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and explain our service or product value
  • Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate client need fulfillment
  • Keep accurate records, prepare proposals, and other administrative tasks using company-designated software and methods
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Adhere to safety procedures including OSHA standards and PPE
  • Recognize and report hazardous conditions or defective equipment
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual goals and quotas
  • Confer with supervisors to make sales decisions
  • Participate in company meetings, trainings, and licensure programs
  • Attend career fairs and participate in active recruitment of new team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job description

The Business Development Representative is responsible for performing sales tasks to acquire new and returning customers for environmental compliance and vegetation management services. Sales tasks are performed in an office and outdoors at customer sites which include industrial plant sites, municipal sites, airports, railroads, distribution centers, and other commercial areas at or near business sites. Team members will be responsible for fulfilling annual sales goals based on their assigned territories.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and be an independent and critical thinker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized using a variety of tools (email, calendars, software)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with sales and operations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, track, and analyze large amounts of data

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must exemplify our five core values (Safety, Others, Integrity, Initiative, and Passion)
  • Must be able to work the assigned territory on a rotation. Monday-Thursday overnight travel potential up to 75% depending on assigned territory.
  • Must have the ability to multitask simultaneous responsibilities, with high quality output
  • Must have the ability to meet goals during potentially high-stress situations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and a personal vehicle for daily business travel
  • Must adhere to the company’s vehicle policy, including participation in the Motus Vehicle Reimbursement Program for accurate mileage and expense tracking
  • Must have the ability to drive company vehicles, which includes an acceptable driving record, and obtaining and maintaining a DOT medical card

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or move equipment of 50 lbs or more
