Overview

We invite you to join our team as a Sales Merchandiser, where you will play a crucial role in driving sales growth for two of the world’s most recognizable brands, WD-40 and WD-40 Specialist. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Home Depot store management teams to implement company-approved merchandising programs and plans. You will optimize shelf space, secure additional off-shelf display opportunities, and ensure our products stand out in the marketplace. This role is home-based in Chicago, IL, with travel throughout IL & Detroit, MI, and surrounding areas.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Maximize Product Placement: Sell and merchandise all authorized WD-40 Company products by securing incremental off-shelf displays, correcting stock issues, replacing missing product tags, and optimizing in-aisle shelf space to drive sales and meet profitability goals.
  2. Sales Presentations & Relationship Building: Present insights-led sales presentations to Home Depot field representatives, including store managers and regional merchandising managers, to secure promotional opportunities and build strong in-store relationships. Partner closely with store employees to drive reorders and support promotional events.
  3. Utilize POS Data: Analyze POS data to assess inventory levels and identify sales opportunities. Ensure stores are stocked adequately and leverage promotional opportunities to boost sales.
  4. Support National Account Programs: Collaborate with National Account Managers to execute national Home Depot programs and proactively identify merchandising improvements to enhance in-store experiences.
  5. Monitor Competitive Activity: Stay informed about competitive activities and provide timely updates to help the team gain retail insights.
  6. Administrative Excellence: Maintain accurate account records, submit timely paperwork, and provide product education as needed. Ensure merchandising goals and company objectives are met.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
  • Experience in big box sales/merchandising
  • At least 2 years of retail merchandising and sales, preferably with big box retailers
  • Strong understanding of plan-o-grams and merchandising strategies, with the ability to cross-merchandise and execute promotional strategies
  • Ability to build and maintain successful relationships
  • Familiarity with POS data and inventory management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel 60% daily and 40% overnight
  • Physical ability to frequently move, climb ladders up to 12 feet, work at heights, carry boxed products, lift up to 40 pounds, push/pull up to 75 lbs, and perform store merchandising tasks
  • Valid driver’s license with no violations; company car provided
  • Education: GED or equivalent
Total Rewards

Annual salary ranges from $60,000 to $72,000, plus 10%-15% profit-sharing contribution to your retirement account. Salary depends on experience, skills, and market factors.
