We are a small, family-owned company operating one of the largest distilleries in Wisconsin with ambitions to grow. You’ll be directly working alongside an amazing team to help grow Berens Old Fashioned Brandy, Death’s Door Gin, Limousin Rye, Travis Hasse Pie Liqueurs, our single barrel program, and more.
This role will report directly to our sales director.
Job Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for executing the sales strategy within a designated territory for Dancing Goat Distillery. Working under the guidance of the Sales Director, the Sales Manager will focus on driving sales growth, building strong relationships with key accounts, and promoting the distillery’s portfolio of products. The role involves a blend of off-premise and on-premise account management, new business development, and collaboration with distributors and brand ambassadors to ensure the brand’s visibility and success in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet and exceed sales targets by actively selling the distillery’s products to key accounts, including bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and other retail outlets.
- Conduct sales calls, audits, and visits to prospective and existing clients to promote the brand and drive product placements.
- Collaborate with distributor sales teams to ensure products are well-positioned and supported in the market.
Distributor Relations
- Develop distributor relationships organically through time in their market with account activations.
- Work closely with the assigned distributor to ensure product availability, timely deliveries, and effective promotions.
- Support distributor sales teams with training and product knowledge to drive better sales outcomes.
- Develop distributor relationships through monthly ride-withs at minimum from February through September, ensuring presence in key markets during appropriate times of the year.
Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts in the territory.
- Allocate time and expenses to rotating on-premise key accounts at least once a week to provide face time and support.
- Ensure regular communication with accounts, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service.
- Monitor account performance, inventory levels, and ensure proper merchandising and promotional displays.
Territory Development
- Identify new business opportunities within the territory to expand the brand’s presence.
- Collaborate with the Sales Director to develop and execute strategies to grow market share and product awareness.
- Host brand events and promotions in collaboration with brand ambassadors to support account growth and consumer engagement, as needed, per month.
Administration, Reporting & Analysis
- Provide weekly updates to the Sales Director on sales performance, account activities, and competitive insights.
- Track and analyze sales data to inform future strategies and optimize account performance.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, account details, and product placements through weekly recaps and preplans.
- Administrative responsibilities are expected to constitute 10-15% of weekly work, with time allocated at the start and end of the week.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to develop, foster, and grow relationships with on- and off-premise locations.
- Team player with a strong work ethic, persistence, self-awareness, and willingness to take direction and coaching.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven organizational skills.
- Prior direct or related industry experience preferred.
- Understanding of the local market and the 3-tier system preferred.
- Nights and weekend work required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation
- Salaried position starting at $50,000+ based on experience, with a $20,000+ annual bonus opportunity, paid semi-annually.

- Monthly travel and entertainment budget. Mileage reimbursed; trips to be recorded via mileage tracker or individual trip logs.
