Job Description

The Sales Manager ensures that the dealership meets its unit sales quotas and gross objectives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. This role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and measuring the activities of the New- and Used-vehicle Sales Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Make monthly projections of vehicle requirements by department for the immediate 90-day sales period.
  2. Determine monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
  3. Forecast monthly with each salesperson to establish objectives in terms of customer traffic, closing percentages, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
  4. Recommend procedures for advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, lease promotions, compensation plans, customer complaints, evaluations, and rentals.
  5. Prepare a Plan of the Week and submit it to the Dealer.
  6. Meet with each salesperson daily to review results and plan actions.
  7. Conduct sales meetings.
  8. Facilitate pre-delivery with the Service Manager.
  9. Provide on-the-job training for salespeople.
  10. Ensure adherence to prospecting programs for optimal results.
  11. Review monthly commission sheets and productivity reports with the Dealer.
  12. Maintain balanced vehicle inventory and establish programs for moving inventory over 90 days (new) and 45 days (used).
  13. Ensure standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining vehicles.
  14. Thank every prospect personally.
  15. Check the condition of all demonstrators monthly.
  16. Keep an accurate count of floor traffic.
  17. Implement and monitor Factory Standards for 100% Customer Satisfaction.
  18. Conduct and document ongoing refresher safety training within the sales department.
  19. Conduct periodic self-inspection for hazard assessment and document actions taken.
  20. Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures and report accidents immediately.
  21. Must be legally and technically able to operate company and customer-owned vehicles.
  22. Must be insurable by Company insurance carrier.
  23. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  24. High school diploma or equivalent.
  25. Two years of automotive sales experience.
  26. One year in a dealership management position.
  27. All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  28. All applicants must perform duties in a safe manner.
  29. All applicants must demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
