About Plant People
Plant People was born when two friends chose the healing potential of functional mushrooms, adaptogens, and herbs over pharmaceuticals on their recoveries back to health after experiencing traumatic spinal surgeries and learning how to walk again. What started as a personal path to recovery became a mission to restore nature's nurture.
We make doctor-formulated, non‑GMO plant and mushroom supplements designed to help people sleep deeper, focus better, feel calmer, and live well. We're B Corp and Climate Neutral certified, and you can find us in Whole Foods, Erewhon, REI, JetBlue, Sprouts, and other forward-thinking partners across the country. We are one of the fastest growing supplement brands on the market and we're looking for teammates to join us on this adventure.
Who We Are
- We’re hands‑on and all‑in – Everyone here builds. We take ownership, move fast, and stay scrappy. Whether it's launching a new SKU or jumping in on a last‑minute shoot, we show up ready to solve, not sit back.
- We lead with story, backed by data – We're obsessed with how things look, feel, and resonate—but we also love performance metrics, A/B tests, and sharp pivots. Creative and analytical thinking live side by side here.
- We care deeply – About wellness. About the planet. About our customers. We're here because we believe there's a better way to help people feel good, and we want to build it together.
- We give a damn – About the details, the deadlines, the tone of a subject line, the flavor of a gummy. We sweat the small stuff because that's what earns trust and builds brand love.
- We communicate clearly – We believe feedback is fuel. We speak with intention, listen with curiosity, and work collaboratively—even when we disagree.
- We stay curious – We pay attention to what's happening in culture, in science, in our community. We're always learning—and never afraid to change our minds.
About the Role
Plant People is looking for a candidate to drive revenue growth and retail velocity across our brick‑and‑mortar footprint, while laying the foundation for strategic promotional and trade marketing execution. This hybrid role sits at the intersection of sales strategy, account management, and shopper marketing, reporting to the Director of Sales.
You’ll own independent accounts, support growth at major national retailers, execute promotional plans, and collaborate with marketing to ensure our in‑store presence drives trial, conversion, and repeat purchases. This is a critical hire as we grow from natural and specialty into conventional and mass retail, and an opportunity to blend commercial acumen with brand storytelling at shelf.
We’re looking for a sales‑forward operator who understands the retail ecosystem inside and out—from building retail decks and managing trade spend to driving QBRs and developing impactful marketing programs.
This role reports into Sales Director.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a key sales partner across independent, small‑to‑medium size sales accounts and support Sales Director on major retailer accounts (Whole Foods Market, Sprouts, Erewhon, Grove Collaborative, Thrive Market, Target, etc.).
- Support QBRs, buyer meetings, and strategic planning for priority accounts.
- Build pitch decks, sell sheets, and category review materials alongside Director of Sales.
- Monitor retail performance, promotional ROI, and syndicated data to optimize store‑level strategy.
- Identify white space and expansion opportunities within current banners and across new ones.
- Develop and execute retail marketing initiatives that drive velocity—seasonal campaigns, promotions, co‑op advertising, and in‑store activations.
- Own the retail promotional calendar, working cross‑functionally to align sales goals with marketing campaigns.
- Manage POS, displays, signage, and merchandising materials across accounts.
- Lead retailer launch marketing for new store wins: timeline, materials, budget, activations.
- Partner with Marketing on brand‑level moments, new product launches, and PR/event alignment.
- Work with Operations to ensure proper inventory planning and logistics for promotions or new doors.
- Analyze trade spend, negotiate co‑op funding, and manage promotional budgets with ROI rigor.
Who You Are
- 2+ years in CPG sales, account management, or trade marketing roles—ideally in wellness, supplements, or natural products.
- Experience supporting growth from natural to mass retail (Whole Foods → Target, etc.).
- Understands how to drive velocity, not just get on shelf.
- Comfortable building decks and calling on accounts.
- Strong storytelling skills through retail decks and materials.
- Data‑literate: comfortable with Spins, IRI, retailer portals, and post‑promo analysis.
- Scrappy, nimble, and excited to wear both a sales and marketing hat.
- Bonus: Experience working in startup environments or supporting retail field teams.
What You'll Get
- Opportunity to help shape a fast‑growing company at a pivotal stage.
- 401(k) program up to the full IRS employee deferral limit.
- Additional vacation days and sabbatical opportunities for long‑term employees.
- Company‑subsidized healthcare plans (medical, dental, and vision).
- Quarterly companywide mental health days off.
- Team‑building events, dinners, offsites, and social gatherings.
- A thoughtful, motivated, fun‑loving team that values balance and excellence.
