Position Summary:
The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch operations, with a strong focus on sales leadership, sales coaching, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, logistics, and office team development. This role combines sales staff and operational staff management with operational oversight to ensure the branch meets its financial and performance goals while delivering exceptional service to industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with corporate objectives and sales objectives.
- Set and achieve branch sales targets, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the B2B industrial market via End-User, OEM, and Reseller accounts.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing actionable insights to all staff.
- Manage, coach, and oversee assigned sales team in all day-to-day selling activities. Work with each sales Territory Manager to plan and execute each territory sales goals. Work with Product Managers, Customer Service Representatives and Engineers to grow profitable sales and drive results.
- Assist in establishing new accounts and maintain existing accounts by working with sales team, customer contacts and vendor base. Help to identify potential customers and new markets.
- Responsible for assigning sales quotas and ensuring the firm’s financial objectives are optimally allocated to all sales channels and resources.
- Partners with senior leadership to identify opportunities for sales process improvement. Facilitates the successful implementation of new programs through the sales organization by ensuring a well-defined and efficient sales process is in place for launch. Fosters an organization of continuous improvement.
2. Operational Leadership
- Manage daily branch operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Oversee inventory control, logistics coordination, and work with materials management to ensure supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure accurate inventory and budget management.
3. Team Leadership and Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate branch staff.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Communicate company initiatives and ensure staff alignment with strategic goals.
4. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industrial clients, vendors, and partners.
- Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Promote customer loyalty through personalized service and value-added solutions.
5. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies across operations and sales.
Education/Skills/Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; - Experience: 5+ years in sales or operations management within industrial distribution or a related sector.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Sales Acumen: Strong understanding of B2B sales, pricing strategies, and customer segmentation.
- Operational Acumen: Knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and inventory systems.
- Technology: Proficient in ERP systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to travel through sales territory; some overnight travel required.
- Valid driver’s license with a record that allows you to be covered by company insurance.
Preferred:
- Product knowledge; industrial pump, industrial vacuum, filtration, hose, or fluid handling equipment experience.
- Background in “solutions sales’ versus “product sales”.
