Objectives
The Sales Manager oversees all aspects of North America sales operations for the Truss Manufacturing Division. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and executing short- and long-term sales strategies to expand market share, strengthen customer relationships, and drive revenue growth across all U.S. regions. The position requires a strong understanding of structural truss manufacturing, rigging systems, and entertainment industry standards.
Main Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute U.S. sales strategy and business plans aligned with corporate goals.
- Identify and pursue new customer accounts, distribution partners, and market opportunities.
- Prepare and manage the annual sales budget and expense forecasts.
- Collect and analyze sales data for forecasting, market trends, and new product development insights.
- Maintain current market research identifying total market size, company share, and competitor performance by product category.
- Build and maintain a corporate CRM database of prospective and existing customers.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the sales team, ensuring consistent customer service and performance standards.
Customer Relations & Marketing Support
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts (purchasing, engineering, management, etc.).
- Support the Marketing Manager in planning trade shows, exhibitions, and promotional events (e.g., Hoist & Rigging School).
- Deliver professional presentations to clients and industry groups, highlighting technical advantages and application benefits of company products.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure quotations, designs, and technical specifications meet customer requirements.
- Follow up on quotations, ensuring timely communication and conversion of leads to orders.
- Identify customer feedback trends to guide product development and service improvements.
Technical Collaboration
- Review all custom project inquiries for feasibility and alignment with company standards.
- Partner with Design and Production on custom projects, providing technical insight and sales support.
- Ensure contract specifications are reviewed and confirmed prior to order acknowledgment.
- Participate in system training and on-site product delivery or demonstrations as needed.
Administration & Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales activity, forecast, and performance reports.
- Establish and monitor short- and long-term sales goals, including KPIs for individual and team performance.
- Manage and evaluate the national sales team, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Ensure adherence to all Tomcat USA health, safety, and compliance standards.
Skills
- Minimum of 5+ years of proven B2B sales experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to quickly understand complex products and solutions.
- Demonstrated "hunter" mindset with a track record of generating new business and opening new markets.
- Proven ability to close deals and consistently deliver revenue growth.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standard office environment with periodic visits to production areas or customer sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and use of office equipment.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of a three-week internal training program covering Tomcat USA products, safety procedures, and corporate standards.
- Satisfactory completion of probationary training period.
Compensation
Salary Range:
- $80,000 – $95,000 annually for candidates with 5+ years of directly related experience.
