Job description

What You Will Do

All Lowe’s associates deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with the products our customers need. As a Sales Floor Department Supervisor, this includes:

  • Providing resources and tools to support those directly helping customers provide the best service.
  • Assisting with down stocking and area recovery, as well as providing input into merchandising decisions.
  • Monitoring the use of store power equipment and coaching employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques.

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver the best possible customer experience. This involves coaching, training, delegating, following-up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Responsibilities include customer-facing activities (greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, closing sales), non-customer-facing activities (down stocking, inventory management, area recovery), and store safety (conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, understanding safety and lifting directions).

The supervisor works with leadership to identify best practices to meet sales and service objectives, then communicates these to the team to inspire engaging, customer-focused behavior and goal achievement. The role may also require supervising associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and cross-department engagement. Effective communication with management about concerns, issues, praises, and morale is essential.

Occasionally, the supervisor may be required to open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD).

Travel Requirements : This role does not require regular travel but may occasionally involve travel for meetings, training, or supporting neighboring stores.

What We're Looking For

  • Hourly Full Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; additional hours may be required based on store needs.
  • Availability for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts any day of the week.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for job duties.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.

What You Need To Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of retail experience OR 5 years of retail experience.
  • 1 year of customer service experience.
  • 1 year supporting the needs of Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
  • Experience providing team direction or supervision.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain any required sales-related licensure or registration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of retail customer service experience.
  • 3 years supporting Pro customers (Pro Department Supervisor).
  • Leadership experience with direct report responsibility.
  • Experience in home improvement retail sector.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in key carrying roles with manager-on-duty responsibilities.
  • Experience with store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client).
