Overview

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver the best customer experience. This includes coaching, training, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring department coverage. They oversee customer-facing activities (greeting, needs clarification, closing sales), non-customer activities (stocking, inventory, recovery), and store safety (safety walks, hazard reporting).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide resources and tools to support customer service.
  • Assist with stocking, recovery, and merchandising input.
  • Monitor and coach on safe equipment use and lifting techniques.
  • Supervise associates across departments as needed, with broad product knowledge.
  • Communicate store goals and best practices to team, inspiring customer-focused behavior.
  • May occasionally open or close the store, or serve as manager-on-duty.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent + 3 years retail experience OR 5 years retail experience.
  • 1 year customer service experience.
  • 1 year supporting Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
  • Experience leading or supervising teams.
  • Experience training and developing associates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain necessary sales licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years retail customer service experience.
  • 3+ years supporting Pro customers.
  • Leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Experience in home improvement retail sector.
  • Experience in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Experience with store computer systems (e.g., Genesis, Sterling).
Additional Details

Requires physical ability to perform tasks involving standing, lifting (up to 25 pounds or more), and other physical activities. Must be available for varied shifts including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Travel may be required occasionally for training or support.
