Job Overview

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver the best customer experience. This includes coaching, training, delegating, managing performance, and ensuring department coverage. The role involves customer-facing activities (e.g., greeting, needs clarification, closing sales), non-customer activities (e.g., stocking, inventory management), and store safety (e.g., safety walks, hazard reporting).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide resources and tools to support customer service efforts.
  • Assist with stocking, recovery, and merchandising decisions.
  • Monitor and coach on safe use of store equipment and lifting techniques.
  • Supervise associates across departments as needed to meet store demands.
  • Communicate best practices to inspire engaging, customer-focused behavior.
  • Potentially open or close the store, or serve as manager-on-duty.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3+ years retail experience or 5+ years retail experience.
  • 1+ year customer service experience.
  • Experience supporting Pro customers (preferred).
  • Leadership experience supporting or supervising teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain necessary sales licenses or registrations.
Physical & Other Requirements
  • Availability for varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings.
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds or more.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years retail customer service and supporting Pro customers.
  • Leadership experience with direct reports.
  • Experience in home improvement retail sector and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with store computer systems.
