Job Overview

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver the best customer experience. This includes coaching, training, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. The role involves customer-facing activities (e.g., greeting, needs clarification, closing sales), non-customer activities (e.g., stocking, inventory, recovery), and store safety (e.g., safety walks, hazard reporting).

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing resources and tools to support customer service.
  • Assisting with stocking, recovery, and merchandising input.
  • Monitoring store equipment use and coaching on safety and lifting techniques.
  • Supervising associates across departments as needed.
  • Communicating best practices to inspire customer-focused behavior.
  • Occasionally opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus 3 years retail experience, or 5 years retail experience.
  • 1 year customer service experience.
  • Experience supporting Pro customers.
  • Leadership and team supervision experience.
  • Cross-functional work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to obtain required sales licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years retail customer service experience.
  • 3+ years supporting Pro customers.
  • Leadership role with direct reports.
  • Experience in home improvement retail sector.
  • Experience in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Store computer systems proficiency.
Additional Details

This is a full-time, mid-senior level position requiring flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Physical ability to perform tasks involving standing, sitting, and lifting (up to 25 pounds or more) is required. Travel is occasional for meetings or training.
