Job description

Aon Is looking for a Sales Executive for our 401(k) Pooled Employer Plan Team - Based in Northeast Region

Be part of the industry‑leading team bringing Aon’s innovative defined contribution 401(k) savings plan to employers across the U.S. – the Aon Pooled Employer Plan (Aon PEP). At Aon, we believe that PEPs are the next generation of retirement savings as they 1) reduce work for employers, 2) reduce risk for fiduciaries, and 3) reduce costs and improve results for employees. In 2021, we introduced our Aon PEP to meet this growing market demand and to date have over $7B in assets and commitments in our new program. We are targeting this multi‑trillion dollar market with a dedicated sales team.

Your Impact as a Sales Executive

The sales executive will be responsible for creating internal and external demand for the Aon PEP, driving our go‑to‑market strategy, creating and nurturing a personal pipeline of prospects in your territory, and coordinating and directly participating in sales efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve annual Aon PEP sales goals.

  • Establish and coordinate sales strategy and execution across all assigned markets.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities with both a) existing Aon clients and b) self‑developed pipeline of non‑Aon clients via relationships and digital marketing and prospecting.

  • Effectively integrate with other Aon sales leaders across practices to identify opportunities, actively work the pipeline to create leads, and move leads to opportunities.

  • Build and maintain the Aon PEP prospect pipeline and other sales reporting responsibilities.

  • Effectively introduce lead generation resources at the appropriate time in the selling process.

  • Collect and communicate market intelligence on products/services and incorporate it into sales client planning process.

  • Creatively eliminate barriers for clients entering new markets; support the team in navigating alternative paths to making the sale.

  • Ensure most efficient use of Aon Connect, Aon’s internal CRM/pipeline management tool.

  • Partner with Aon PEP and DC Leadership teams to advance marketing, investments and solution development.

  • Regular/minimum of 30% travel expected, depending on sales opportunities.

  • Collaborate and share approaches and findings with other regional Master Trust sales teams globally as we expand this offering in other markets.

Qualifications And Expertise

  • 5+ years of direct or equivalent sales experience in the defined contribution market (or similar institutional assets) with demonstrated sales success.

  • Established network of contacts in the DC industry.

  • Ability to create a personal pipeline of non‑Aon clients to pursue in your territory.

  • Proven history of success in developing new products in various markets, and establishing and executing a sales strategy.

  • Demonstrated history of building and maintaining a substantial pipeline.

  • Ability to communicate the value of a product to clients, deliver insights on how the service will impact the client’s business, and effectively close opportunities.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Broad knowledge and expertise of defined contribution plan design, administration, investments, and delivery.

  • Excellent relationship management abilities: Capability to build trusted advisor relationships at multiple levels in a potential client company, including members of the fiduciary, financial, and administrative committees who are responsible for the defined contribution plan. Experienced in maintaining productive, internal relationships to leverage those resources when necessary.

  • Outstanding Communication and Project Management skills: Ability to manage multiple, complex sales processes at the same time. Very strong internal and external communication skills, with the ability to listen comprehensively and deliver clear instructions and/or recommendations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Advanced Degree is preferred and/or equivalent work‑related experience and success.

  • FINRA license is not required, but preferred.
