Job summary

The Armor Group in South Bend, IN seeks an estimator who can interpret drawings and customer specs, understand fabrication times, and use estimating tools to prepare cost estimates.

You will prepare proposals using Armor templates, liaise with customers and internal teams, and contribute to shop floor planning while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.

Job description

This position is primarily responsible for estimating and quoting metal stamping. Will also include order taking and communication with customers.

Responsibilities include:

• Interpreting drawings and specifications provided by customers
• Understanding fabrication (shop) equipment and the time it takes to perform operations
• Using estimating tools to prepare cost estimates
• Preparing proposals using Armor based templates
• Additional items as assigned by manager

PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY

This position interacts with Customers, Outside Sales Reps, Vendors, Company Employees, and Shop Personnel.

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of welding and fabrication a must
• Ability to read and interpret customer supplied project specifications
• Experience with AutoCAD a plus
• Accurate - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly to include computational tasks
• Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
• Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

This position uses a personal computer, fax machine, telephone and copier.

WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

This position works primarily in an office environment but will spend time on the manufacturing floor.
