Job summary

IRD, LLC in Louisville, KY is seeking a Sales Engineer to promote technical products and provide expert solutions to customers in a demanding test equipment environment.

You will develop product knowledge, interface with clients to tailor applications, manage sales activities, and support product fulfillment while traveling to customer sites and trade shows as needed. This role requires a proactive sales mindset and engineering background; Spanish language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Manufacturing experience helpful for interfacing with plant personnel.
• Spanish language skills preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industrial equipment and parts sales/support/service is beneficial.
• Positive, professional attitude with a closing sales mentality.
• Willingness to learn equipment operation, calibration and field service.
• Some travel is required (10%) for customer visits and trade shows.
• Valid driver’s license and passport for potential international travel.

IRD, LLC is the premier supplier of Industrial Equipment used in the rotating apparatus industry. An exciting opportunity awaits a person who enjoys interfacing with customers in a highly technical test equipment environment. IRD manufactures the IRD Balancing equipment and leads the global market with its legacy yet ever evolving equipment and applications. The Lexseco Core Loss Tester is another of its products, both of which have been around for 50 years or more. The CLT primarily serves the electromechanical motor repair industry. IRD, which has been associated with Krauth Electric Company, another Louisville industrial service provider with over 110 years of service to the market.

Some of your duties would include:

• Become an expert of the assigned products, applications and competitive advantages.
• Interface with customers to develop the appropriate solution for their application.
• Manage all customer related activities to both satisfy customer requirements and develop opportunities for product sales growth.
• Manage all internal sales activities related to fulfillment of the customer order.
• Provide technical support of the product as it relates to the customer applications.
• Develop and recommend future enhancements to assigned products that will address market expansion opportunities.
• Participate in the new product development with engineering to implement new and existing product changes.

Some of the major qualifications for the successful person in this position:

• An engineering degree or previous sales engineering experience will be extremely helpful.
• Manufacturing experience including ability to effectively interface with plant maintenance, purchasing and management personnel will help you be successful in the role.
• Fluency in a second language, Spanish preferred, is helpful
• Knowledge of industrial equipment and parts sales/support/service preferred
• Must have a positive/professional attitude and the ability to be assertive.
• Willingness to learn equipment operation, calibration and some field services.
• Must have a “sales” personality with a “closing” mentality
• Some travel required (10%) for customer visits and trade shows
• Valid driver’s license and passport for potential international travel.
