Job summary

Future Form is seeking an estimator with a strong background in precision sheet metal. You will develop new processes to support KPIs, create standard work and training docs, and collaborate with management, production, and sales teams to improve margins.

Responsibilities include reviewing blueprints, estimating labor, requesting quotes, and ensuring timely responses. The role emphasizes lean principles, data tracking, and adherence to ISO 9001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Work with team members to develop new processes to support KPIs

• Confer with Management & Production Teams on orders with tight due dates
• Actively seek new business development opportunities within your portfolio of customers to enhance profit margins
• Communicate effectively with external and internal customers and suppliers
• Review blueprints or drawings to determine operations, tools, materials, quality standards and outside processes
• Estimate labor times and material usage to determine cost of manufacturing the job
• Initiate price inquiries from potential suppliers
• Respond to quotes efficiently within the customer’s timeframe
• Review repeat orders to align material and labor to prevent margin erosion
• Prepare orders with all pertinent information
• Respond to change order requests within 24 hours or sooner and document appropriately
• Willing to work overtime when needed
• Maintain ISO 9001 responsibilities per Quality Manual
• Participate in Lean activities and contribute to sales efforts
• Track and chart data as needed
• Keep KPI data up to date for management meetings
• Keep work area clean and organized
• Other duties as assigned

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

• Work with team members to develop new processes to support KPIs
• Develop standard work and training documents
• Confer with Management & Production Teams on any order under 2-week due date or as otherwise needed to share information
• Actively seek out new business development opportunities within your portfolio of customers focused on enhancing profit margins
• Communicate effectively and professionally with external and internal customers and suppliers
• Review blueprints or conceptual drawings to determine operations, tools, materials, quality standards and outside processes required for the job
• Determine cost of manufacturing the job by estimating labor times and calculating material usage
• Initiate price inquiries for price information from potential suppliers
• Respond effectively to customer requests for quotes in an efficient, professional and expedient manner within the customer’s time frame or less
• Review repeat orders to align material and labor appropriately to prevent Margin Erosion
• Prepare orders for processing by including all pertinent information
• Effectively respond to customer change order requests within 24 hours or sooner and initiate proper documentation
• Willing to work overtime when needed
• Maintain the responsibilities of the ISO 9001 system in accordance with the requirements defined in the Quality Manual, and Procedure Level documentation
• Participate actively and positively in Lean activities
• Actively contribute to company sales and marketing effort
• Track and chart data as needed
• Keep up to date KPIs for Sales Manager to use in management meetings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Sit 75%, Stand 5%, Walk 10%, Drive 10%.

Maximum (minutes): Sit 360, Stand 24, Walk 48, Drive 48.

Must have normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids).

Working Environment:

Office environment with intermittent shop environment.Light noise level in the office, ranging to moderate noise level in the shop.Occasional exposure to dust, heat and cold.
