Job summary

Envelop Group seeks a technically inclined Sales Engineer to support airflow control systems. You will build relationships with contractors and owners, generate leads, and close sales by applying engineering knowledge to customer needs.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 2+ years in HVAC, and strong communication and sales skills. Travel to job sites and ongoing training are expected. This is an on-site Indianapolis position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell product lines by developing relationships with contractors, owners, and engineers.
  • Generate leads, follow up, close orders, and manage projects through to completion.
  • Provide technical solutions addressing customer needs and financial considerations.
  • Research and modify solutions to meet technical requirements.
  • Support installation and project execution for sold equipment.
  • Maintain customer data in Salesforce and participate in industry events.
  • Engage in ongoing sales training and development programs.

Job description

As part of the Envelop Group collective of companies, Controlled Environmental Systems (CES) delivers advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions for critical building environments, providing high-quality products and services across sectors such as research, healthcare, and manufacturing; and specializing in critical airflow, air filtration, and HVAC systems.

We are looking for a technically inclined individual to operate as a Sales Engineer of airflow control systems and products. The Sales Engineer's responsibilities include maintaining extensive knowledge of our product line and closing sales where technical expertise may be required to fit the customers' needs.

What you'll do as a Sales Engineer:

  • Promote and sell our product lines by developing and maintaining viable long-term relationships with contractors, building owners, and consulting engineers.
  • Generate high-quality sales leads, following up after initial contact, securing orders, negotiating prices, completing sales, and executing projects through to completion.
  • Provide knowledge and consultation in the form of developing airflow control system related solutions for the customer's problems, including financial and performance-based considerations.
  • Research, develop, and modify solutions to meet customers' technical requirements and needs.
  • Support customers with the installation and project execution for the equipment sold.
  • Continually work to achieve sales goals set by leadership.
  • Maintain accurate customer information and leads in Salesforce CRM system.
  • Actively participate in industry activities such as trade shows, conferences, factory trips, and manufacturer training.
  • Energetically take part in offered sales training and development programs (Sandler Selling Method).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required skills, experience, and knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent training and experience in a similar field.
  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC commercial service or related field.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, customer service, and sales skills.
  • Excellent technical skills, and the ability to think creatively to support technical problem solving.
  • Good cross functional leadership and team working skills.
  • Competitive nature and a strong desire to win.
  • Willingness to continue your sales and engineering education.
  • Travel to customer job sites is required, which may include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other variable environmental conditions.
