Job summary

Noratel Americas is seeking a commercially minded Sales Engineer to support revenue growth across North American markets. You will blend application engineering with proactive sales development, engaging directly with customers to translate technical requirements into magnetic component solutions and coordinated proposals across engineering, sales, and manufacturing networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum two years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, or product management within an electrical/electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of magnetic components such as transformers, reactors, inductors, or related power-electronics products.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, electrical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, and IEC standards as they apply to transformers or power equipment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the confidence to work with engineers, buyers, and other customer stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using CRM, RFQ tracking, or similar structured opportunity-management tools.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent RFQs and customer opportunities.
  • Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working across multiple teams and locations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities across industrial automation, medical, renewable energy, mobility, data centres, and security markets.
  • Serve as the primary commercial and technical contact for assigned customers and prospects.
  • Conduct application-level discussions to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate transformer, reactor, current transformer, or related magnetic solutions.
  • Prepare and present technically accurate quotations, proposals, and application information in response to customer RFQs.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and follow up systematically on open quotations and opportunities.
  • Support customer visits, product presentations, trade shows, and other business-development activities.
  • Act as the link between customers, the North American sales organization, Engineering, and Noratel manufacturing sites.
  • Coordinate with factories in the United States, Mexico, and other global locations to confirm cost, capacity, lead time, and technical feasibility.
  • Communicate manufacturing constraints and alternative solutions clearly and professionally.
  • Support coordinated account development and cross-functional customer pursuits.
  • Participate in S&OP, project review, and opportunity-management meetings.
  • Translate customer specifications and application requirements into clear technical briefs for engineering teams.
  • Perform first-level technical screening of RFQs before routing them for detailed engineering review.
  • Support customers with product selection, datasheet interpretation, and compliance-related questions.
  • Provide guidance on relevant UL, CSA, and IEC requirements for transformers and power equipment.
  • Support prototype reviews, first-article approvals, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Contribute to VAVE initiatives focused on cost optimization and product improvement.
  • Manage the RFQ process from initial inquiry through quotation, follow-up, award, or loss.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on customer value, strategic fit, technical feasibility, and manufacturing capability.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity records, next actions, and expected close dates.
  • Prepare regular RFQ and pipeline status reports for internal review.
  • Track win-and-loss trends and provide market intelligence to Engineering and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate the handover of awarded First Time Built projects to Engineering and Operations.

We are seeking a commercially minded Sales Engineer to support revenue growth across Noratel’s North American markets. This role combines application engineering with proactive sales development. You will work directly with customers and prospects to understand their technical requirements, recommend suitable magnetic component solutions, and coordinate competitive proposals across Noratel’s engineering, sales, and global manufacturing network.

The preferred work locations are Toronto, Ontario; Addison, Illinois; or Hobart, Indiana. Remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. The role requires moderate travel for customer meetings, factory visits, and industry trade shows.

Key Responsibilities
Application Sales and Customer Development

  • French or Spanish language skills are considered an asset
