Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Sales Engineer to engage with customers by phone and email, collaborating with internal and external partners to tailor metal product solutions.

You will interpret customer documents, estimate pricing, and support a robust metal supply chain while applying your technical and analytical skills in a dynamic, quality-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• 1-3 years of sales experience in the metal industry available.
• Print reading required; CAD or drafting experience a plus.
• Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
• MS Office skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and qualify customer-provided documents such as prints, CAD files, and specifications.
• Understand tolerances, materials, specs, and processing options for robust metal supply chain creation.
• Manage part-specific supply chains using internal/external processing assets to meet quality/delivery requirements.
• Estimate material, labor, and delivery options and develop pricing templates based on awarded work.
• Evaluate sales proposals for technical accuracy and alignment with quality standards.
• Conduct technical analysis of product configurations to determine customer-specific prices.
• All other duties as assigned.

Join our team as a Sales Engineer, where you'll engage with customers via phone and email, collaborating with internal and external partners to meet their needs. You'll conduct technical sales briefings and research customer specifications to tailor product solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Interpret and qualify customer-provided documents such as prints, CAD files, and specifications
• Full understanding of tolerances, materials, specifications, and processing options that will guide a robust metal supply chain creation
• Manage part specific supply chains by utilizing internal and external processing assets to meet customer quality and delivery requirements
• Estimate material, labor, and delivery options on a part-level basis and develop contract pricing templates based on awarded work
• Evaluating sales proposals to ensure they are technically accurate and consistent with the organization’s quality standards
• Conducting technical analysis of product configurations to determine customer-specific prices
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred
• 1-3 years of sales experience in the metal industry
• Print reading required. CAD or drafting experience a plus
• Experience with SAP is highly preferred
• MS Office software skills required, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience in sales or customer service is an asset
• Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills, and a technical aptitude
