Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

TITLE: Technical Sales Specialist

CLIENT: Manufacturing & Distribution Company

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

SALARY: Base salary & commission (commensurate with experience)

SUMMARY:

Our client operating within the manufacturing sector is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to assist in achieving sales objectives through the implementation of effective sales strategies, the cultivation of relationships, and the provision of outstanding customer service. This role involves supporting colleagues as necessary to ensure the utmost level of customer service is maintained and includes shared responsibilities for handling incoming calls, emails, and overseeing overall customer service and order processing. The ideal candidate will provide the highest standard of customer service, accomplishing this through self-motivation and self-management by executing the following responsibilities.

DUTIES:

  • Target, initiate contact, and grow new OEM sales accounts and update CRM database.
  • Prospect new customers, respond to inquiries, outbound calls preparing written RFI, RFQ, and RFP’s.
  • Promotes and effectively sells company products using established company sales techniques/strategies.
  • Understands and supports established sales policies and procedures to provide proper and effective treatment to customers.
  • Emphasizes saleable products to include quality and ability to meet customer specifications.
  • Clarifies and fulfills customer requests/needs by presenting various selections of products and services, providing pricing information as requested.
  • Communicates delivery logistics effectively and relays new product ideas and product extensions to management for evaluation.
  • Ensures all documentation for customer orders is completed in a timely fashion and double-checked for order accuracy.
  • Resolves customer concerns expeditiously and tactfully.
  • Provides technical support for day-to-day technical calls on bearings, clutches, and seals.
  • Provides project technical support to assigned customers.
  • Grows and expands OEM business and personal internal OEM customer list.
  • Outbound sales efforts include but are not limited to: prospecting/researching new customers, following up internet inquiries, outbound lead calling, etc.
  • Grows personal internal OEM customers and other customer sales year over year.
  • Ensures all documentation for customer orders is completed in a timely fashion and double-checked for order accuracy.
  • Processes all paperwork for orders to include sales order, pack lists, e-mails, and any prints or related documents.
  • Utilizes organizational skills to keep track and record customer sales, history, issues, and contacts.
  • Remains up to date with all internal OEM customers on personal list.
  • Compile sales data with a clear knowledge of whether sales are up or down year over year.
  • Prepare sales status reports of ongoing projects/testing, commonly used part numbers, and stock levels, and any other specific actions being taken involving OEM customers.
  • Maintains and improves engineering support documentation.
  • Maintains and grows knowledge within the spindle, bearing, clutch, and non-contact seal fields to include trends, manufacturing techniques, and new technology.
  • Supports all other common business tasks on an as needed basis when the business requires to complete orders by end of day.
  • Travels to customers as needed, trade conferences, and industry shows when deemed appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years engineering and/or technical sales experience.
  • Must have excellent verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a clear understanding of warehouse policies and procedures to facilitate order fulfillment.
  • Specific experience in the machine tool industry, rotating technologies, or manufacturing engineering may be a plus, but is not a requirement.
  • Self-motivation, self-supervision, and time/project management skills are a must.
  • Proficient with MS Office Excel and PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Dynamics Suite preferred or CRM Salesforce business management systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
