The Sales Engineer will support strategic growth by identifying and developing opportunities in both existing and potential markets. The Sales Engineer will build strong customer relationships, partner closely with Engineering and Product Development, and provide technical expertise throughout the quoting, proposal, and sales process.
Sales Engineer Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within the automotive and vehicle powertrain markets, with a focus on tight-tolerance metal-formed components
- Research and develop opportunities in emerging markets and industries outside of the automotive sector
- Drive sales initiatives involving advanced metal forming technologies, including stamping, flow-forming, and metal spinning
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers, prospective clients, and key industry contacts
- Partner closely with Engineering and Product Development teams to understand customer requirements and develop effective technical solutions
- Provide technical product knowledge and process expertise to customers throughout the sales cycle
- Identify customer needs, recommend appropriate products and manufacturing solutions, and communicate technical capabilities effectively
- Analyze market conditions, industry trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities for business growth
- Support the preparation of quotes, proposals, presentations, and other customer-facing sales materials
- Navigate and maintain familiarity with customer‑specific portals used for quoting, account management, and order‑related activities
- Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions while ensuring customer requirements and company objectives are aligned
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Engineering, Product Development, and other internal teams to successfully develop and secure new business
- Work closely with independent sales representatives on assigned accounts to identify and pursue new sales and growth opportunities
- Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information and follow established processes for account and pipeline management
- Stay current on industry developments, customer requirements, and advancements in tight‑tolerance metal forming technologies
- Utilize strong problem‑solving, communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills to overcome sales challenges and achieve business objectives
Sales Engineer Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related
- 2+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering
Sales Engineer Preferred Experience
- Experience within automotive or powertrain systems
- Experience with stamping, flow‑forming, and skinning manufacturing
