Job summary

Sysco Northeast Rdc in Laurel, MD seeks a senior sales leader to direct current and future sales initiatives aligned with short- and long-term company goals. You will coordinate daily activities, set revenue and profit targets, and drive top-line growth across districts.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in sales with leadership experience, strong communication and presentation abilities, and proficiency in Word/Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of previous sales experience and a leadership role.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate Word processing (Microsoft Word) and intermediate spreadsheet application skills (Microsoft Excel) are desired.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and gross profit dollar goals.
  • Participate in ongoing development of new systems to enhance selling or maintenance of customers.
  • Select, train, coach and manage direct reports.
  • Monitor training for all newly hired marketing associates.
  • Establish and manage the expense budget for the sales department.
  • Participate with senior management in formulating company policies and long-range goals.
  • Review and analyze all sales-related activities to establish goals and benchmarks.
  • Motivate sales personnel to reach all company goals.
  • Analyze and control expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with Regional Sales Managers at least twice a year.
  • Comply with company policies and provide due process for all employees.
  • Understand and comply with SYSCO Corporate’s code of business conduct and policies.
  • Participate in sales training sessions to provide overview of department functions.
  • Develop profit plan objectives and report actual results against the plan.
  • Recruit, interview, and train District Sales Managers.
  • Develop clear expectations using the Performance Worksheet for direct reports.
  • Document goals and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Monitor all sales territories with each DSM.
  • Generate double-digit growth in both sales and GPS regularly.
  • Attend sales management training programs and other educational programs to further enhance managerial and sales skills.
  • Interact effectively with all personnel across departments.
  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with reporting DSMs twice a year.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

  • Motivate all sales personnel to reach all goals established by the company.
  • Analyze and control expenditures in order to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with Regional Sales Managers a minimum of two times a year (mid-year and year-end).
  • Comply with company guidelines in employment actions and provide due process for all employees.

  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with reporting DSM’s (district sales manager) a minimum of two times a year (mid-year and year-end).
  • Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.
Experience
  • 10 years of previous sales experience and a leadership role working within a sales environment is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills are required.
  • Intermediate word processing (Microsoft Word preferred) and intermediate spreadsheet application skills (Microsoft Excel preferred) are desired.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and situations in a fast-paced environment is required.
Work Environment
  • General working conditions – exposed to adverse conditions 5% or less of the time.
