The Sales Development Representative (SDR) will play a critical role in driving our sales efforts by identifying potential customers, generating leads, and booking meetings for a team of Solution Sales Executives. You will be in charge of managing lead campaigns, fielding inbound inquiries, and working closely with the sales team to ensure individual and team sales goals are met. As the first line of communication in the sales process, the ideal SDR will have a strong understanding of the product offering and excels at researching prospects, engaging with decision makers, and qualifying new business opportunities. This role will partner closely with sales and marketing leadership, along with other leaders across the growth team and broader Payer business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential customers through various channels including online research, internal data resources and cross-functional collaboration with Optum Growth Office
  • Conduct outbound B2B prospecting via email, calls and LinkedIn to engage with potential customers, introduce them to Optum Financials’ directed spend flex payment card capabilities and qualify their interest
  • Schedule meetings and product demonstrations for Solution Sales Executives with decision makers from key target accounts
  • Qualify inbound leads and respond to prospective inquiries
  • Partner with marketing and sales as appropriate to improve and assist in the development of lead-generating activities
  • Manage a lead pipeline with persistent focus on driving new logo acquisition
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, leads, and customer interactions in our CRM system
  • Stay up to date on market trends, competition, industry developments and become a product expert
  • Support Sales to assess and interpret customer needs and program requirements to aid the SSE in aligning Optum Financial Supplemental Benefits solution with client needs
  • Assist with RFP content and completion

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 5+ years of healthcare or fintech industry experience
  • 3+ yearsof experience in a Sales, Demand or Lead Generation focused role
  • 1+ years of experience using CRM systems, sales automation tools and other technology platforms
  • 1+ years of experience building and maintaining relationships with clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field
  • Demonstrated history calling on decision makers and senior level executives
  • Healthcare/financial services experience
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Time management and organizational proficiencies
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, sales automation tools, and other technology platforms

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for this role is $59,500to $116,600annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
