Luminaire is seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial, and design-focused Design & Sales Consultant to join our Bay Area showroom team. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives at the intersection of luxury design, client relationship management, and business development.
As a Design & Sales Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor to residential and commercial clients, architects, interior designers, and developers. You will represent Luminaire's legacy of design excellence while cultivating meaningful relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering exceptional customer experiences that drive sales growth.
The successful candidate possesses a strong appreciation for contemporary design, outstanding communication skills, and a proven ability to develop business through both inbound and outbound sales initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Achieve individual annual sales goals and performance objectives established by the Showroom Manager.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to generate new business opportunities throughout the Bay Area market.
- Build and maintain relationships with architects, interior designers, developers, luxury residential clients, and corporate accounts.
- Identify and pursue opportunities within residential, hospitality, workplace, and real estate development sectors.
- Conduct showroom presentations, product demonstrations, and client consultations that effectively communicate Luminaire's design philosophy and product offerings.
- Proactively engage prospective clients through networking, outreach campaigns, phone calls, virtual meetings, and industry events.
- Monitor local market trends, competitive activity, and emerging design opportunities.
Client Experience & Design Consultation
- Deliver a highly personalized and consultative sales experience aligned with Luminaire's luxury service standards.
- Provide expert guidance on furniture, lighting, accessories, and integrated design solutions.
- Collaborate with clients and design professionals to develop product specifications and project recommendations.
- Follow projects from initial inquiry through installation, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction.
- Cultivate long‑term relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.
CRM & Operations
- Maintain accurate client and project records within the CRM platform.
- Manage sales pipelines, quotations, proposals, purchase orders, and project follow‑up activities.
- Ensure all sales‑related administrative tasks are completed accurately and promptly.
- Monitor project timelines and coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure successful order fulfillment.
- Generate and maintain reporting related to sales activity, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Partner closely with showroom leadership and cross‑functional teams to support company objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cross‑selling and expanding client relationships across Luminaire's portfolio.
- Contribute positively to showroom culture and actively participate in team initiatives and events.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of sales experience within luxury furnishings, interior design, architecture, real estate, or a related industry.
- Demonstrated success achieving revenue targets and developing new business relationships.
- Experience working with design professionals, architects, and high‑net‑worth clients is highly desirable.
- Equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
- Proven ability to generate revenue and manage a full sales cycle from prospecting through project completion.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to business development.
- Ability to cultivate lasting client relationships and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Design Knowledge
- Passion for contemporary architecture, interior design, and luxury furnishings.
- Ability to communicate design concepts, product specifications, and solutions to clients and industry professionals.
- Knowledge of premium furniture and lighting brands preferred.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills
- CRM software proficiency required.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of design software such as SketchUp, CAP, CET, or similar platforms is a plus.

Base Salary Range $70,000-80,000 + Commissions
