Position Summary

The Sales Consultant is responsible for promoting the Company's products and services by building relationships with new and existing customers to become a trusted business partner. This outside sales role uses consultative selling to grow sales of amenities, textiles, room accessories, paper, janitorial supplies, cleaning, FF&E and MRO products to hotels, management groups and other markets within an assigned territory. The role targets helping customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals. The position offers a base salary with the opportunity to earn quarterly bonuses based on KPI achievement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain and identify new sales opportunities within prospective and existing accounts. Make sales calls and presentations to develop and maintain customer relationships to increase sales and category penetration.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques, product knowledge, ROI, system tools (i.e., Phocas, GForce and Salesforce.com) and sales training resources to target new prospects and market growth opportunities.
  • Manage assigned accounts and take corrective action to maintain and improve the overall customer experience.
  • Consult with assigned accounts on new products and services, company changes, holiday schedules, product pricing or information changes and new opportunities.
  • Notify management if an existing account is in jeopardy of discontinuing service or if issues remain unresolved.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to ensure invoices are paid within agreed terms.
  • Interact with internal departments to provide information necessary for servicing customers, including advance notification to Merchandising of changes and new opportunities.
  • Assist in the set-up of new accounts, including Customer Account Applications, pricing, order guides, and schedules; coordinate with other departments to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Accurately forecast sales results and trends for a specific territory or group of accounts.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred.
Minimum Experience
  • 3 - 5 years sales experience with a proven record of sales success.
  • Experience in hospitality or supply/distribution sales preferred.
  • Experience in relationship sales managing new and existing opportunities and up-selling preferred.
  • Experience with trip planning, territory routing and account prioritization preferred.

  • Strong work habits, including punctuality and consistent attendance; computer literacy including Microsoft Office 365 and CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with analytical software tools and CRM systems.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, and use hands to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone; lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent travel to attend appointments, training, meetings, events and trade shows.
  • May use a personal vehicle for business travel; valid driver license and proof of automobile insurance required.
  • Remote work requires reliable internet, required software, and a dedicated workspace free of distractions.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required to meet customer needs.
