Sales Associate (Sur La Table)

Location: Troy, MI / Sur La Table - Stores – 085 - Somerset

Position: Seasonal - Part Time / On-site

Sur La Table, with over 50 stores and the largest culinary program in the US, offers an extensive selection of premium kitchen and tableware products, along with culinary expertise and inspiration. Our team is dedicated to creating happiness through cooking and sharing good food.

Role Overview: The Sales Associate contributes to the store's success by inspiring and assisting customers throughout their retail journey. Responsibilities include providing product information, assisting with location, pricing, and availability, and processing returns and sales transactions. The role reports to the General Manager or Store Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service according to established standards.
• Engage proactively with customers to identify needs and recommend products.
• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge through training and resources.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet sales goals.
• Promote store services such as gift registry and cooking classes.
• Demonstrate products upon customer request or as directed.
• Follow all store policies and SOPs.
• Keep the store environment clean and organized.
• Process transactions accurately via POS system, including sales, returns, and price checks.
• Ensure pricing accuracy and replenish stock using FIFO and visual standards.
• Record work hours accurately per store policy.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management.
• Protect store assets and report safety concerns.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Essential Functions:

• Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain stationary for periods and move about the store.
• Physical ability to reach, push, pull, bend, and demonstrate merchandise.
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Operate computers, POS systems, and merchandise scanners.
• Lift and move merchandise up to 35 lbs.

Experience and Qualifications:

• At least 16 years old.
• Preferred: 1 year retail sales experience.
• Proficient in POS systems.
