Job summary

National Vision’s Eyeglass World in-store team seeks an Optical Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service and help customers select and fit eyewear. You will support pre-exam workflows, assist with patient flow, and ensure smooth transitions from exam to pickup.

The role blends customer connection with finishing excellence to uphold brand standards. The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience in optical, retail, sales, or customer service,

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, confident, and personalized service at every stage of the visit.

• Ensure orders are prepared for pickup with a polished, brand-aligned handoff.
• Maintain organized, clean finish and retail areas.
• Identify and resolve quality or service issues proactively.

The Optical Specialist is customer-facing role at the heart of the Eyeglass World in-store experience. This position brings the brand to life through confident service, attention to detail, and ownership of the final moments that matter most, from pre-exam support to eyewear readiness, fitting, and pickup. As a key member of the team, this role ensures every customer interaction feels seamless, elevated, and on-brand. This role blends customer connection, optical support, and finishing excellence to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences.

Essential Functions

• Create an Exceptional Customer Experience
• Deliver warm, confident, and personalized service at every stage of the visit
• Guide customers through eyewear selection, final fitting, and product education
• Ensure customers leave feeling confident in both their eyewear and their experience
• Support Clinical & In Store Flow
• Assist with patient flow and pre exam screenings to support Optometrists
• Help ensure smooth transitions between exam, finish, and pickup moments
• Serve as a calm, knowledgeable presence throughout the customer journey
• Own Finish & Quality Excellence
• Perform finishing work including final adjustments, inspections and quality checks
• Ensure all eyewear meets Eyeglass World standards for fit, function, and presentation
• Prepare orders for pickup and deliver polished, brand aligned handoff
• Operate with Precision & Care
• Support order entry, tracking, and timely completion
• Maintain organized, clean, and efficient finish and retail areas
• Identify and resolve quality or service issues proactively
• Bring the Brand to Life
• Model Eyeglass World service standards, tone, and behaviors in every interaction
• Uphold visual, experiential, and operational brand standards in the store
• Partner with the store team to deliver a consistent and elevated experience

Education
