Job summary

Interstate Battery System of America Inc is seeking a Sales Associate to deliver fast, friendly service and assess customer needs in a bustling retail setting. You will help customers select batteries, explain product features, and promote current offers while ensuring the store remains clean and organized.

You will greet customers with a positive attitude, drive sales through good-better-best recommendations, handle POS transactions, and participate in inventory tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record and meet driver qualifications requirements; delivery driving experience is preferred.

• Perform basic battery testing and installation, including automotive batteries.
• Complete local deliveries using a company vehicle, as needed.
• Follow / fulfill all driver program requirements, as specified by the manager.

Purpose of Job

The Sales Associate provides fast and friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. This role maintains the condition of the sales floor, ensuring that it is clean and shoppable. They will also make deliveries and test/install car batteries.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous retail or customer service experience (preferred but not required)
• Previous delivery driving experience is preferred
• Must have a clean drivers record AND meet driver qualifications requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Basic math skills and comfort handling cash transactions
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check

Work Environment

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and lifting. Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbs Work involves some irregularities and difficulties with repetitive and varied tasks. Primarily retail store setting, however, frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, dampness and battery acid as is normal to warehouse environment in this business Stress associated with workplace pressure and the retail environment. Exposed to the hazards of the road when operating or riding in a vehicle
