Job Summary

The NGA Convenience Store Cashier supports daily operations of the NGA West convenience store by providing excellent customer service, handling transactions, and maintaining inventory in compliance with NGA security protocols and ServiceSource standards.
Primary Duties
- Operate cash register, entering price, displaying cost of customer purchase and tax on monitor screen in compliance with company policies.
- Make change and issue receipts to each customer purchase.
- Record amounts received and prepare end of day report of transactions.
- Assist with restocking shelves and inventory counts.
- Report low‑stock items to Manager.
- Read and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand, recording any overages or shortages.
- Assist in maintaining a neat and clean appearance on sales floor, including collection of empty hangers, re‑hanging clothing on racks or floors, cleaning dressing rooms hourly, and other duties as designated by store manager.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with changing floor displays as needed (generally a minimum of two times per week).
- Assist customers with questions or complaints.
- Answer store phone in a timely, polite and professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic math and computer skills for Point of Sale (POS) operations preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a HSPD‑12 government security clearance required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Well organized, self‑directed individual and a team player.
- Good customer skills: listening, speaking, professional and polite demeanor.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Basic math skills to properly handle currency and make change.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
- Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office Software.
- Basic ability to operate a cash register.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or walk; reach with hands and arms; type; and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
A standard retail environment with moderate noise levels.
