7 Dees Garden Center in Seaside, OR is seeking a part-time cashier/sales associate with plant knowledge. You’ll help customers select plants, share care tips, and process sales using our POS system. The role offers learning opportunities in horticulture and a path to full-time seasonal work.

The position requires weekend availability, 6+ months in retail or customer service, and a genuine interest in growing plant knowledge for a long-term career in the green industry.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of retail sales, cashier, or customer service experience.
• Solid working knowledge of common plants (annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, and houseplants).
• Weekend availability is required.
• Interest in growing your plant knowledge and building a long-term career in the green industry.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

7 Dees Garden Center in Seaside, OR is looking for someone who knows plants and likes helping people pick the right ones. This job is part cashier and part salesperson, and the sales side is where you’ll spend a lot of your day. Customers will come to you with questions about what will grow in their yard, why their tomatoes are struggling, or what shrub will fill a shady corner. Your plant knowledge is what helps them leave with the right plants and the confidence to grow them.

We’re not looking to just fill a spot on the team. We want someone who sees a future in horticulture and wants to build a career with us. 7 Dees is a family-owned company with retail garden centers and a landscaping division, so there’s real room to learn, take on more, and move up. This seasonal role starts at about 25-30 hours per week, with the potential to become full-time and year-round for the right person.

Responsibilities

• Help customers choose plants and products that fit their space, goals, and skill level.
• Share plant care advice and suggest add-on products that help customers succeed, like soil, fertilizer, and pots.
• Answer plant and gardening questions in person and over the phone.
• Build relationships with regular customers and help them plan for future projects.
• Process sales quickly and accurately using our POS system.
• Support coworkers by sharing knowledge and helping close sales.
• Use and troubleshoot the POS system and inventory database.
• Set up customer deliveries and follow through on time.
• Do light plant care, including watering, deadheading, and basic grooming.
• Keep the store clean, organized, and looking its best.

Required Qualifications

• Weekend availability is required.
• 6+ months of retail sales, cashier, or customer service experience.
• Solid working knowledge of common plants (annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, and houseplants).

• A real interest in growing your plant knowledge and building a long-term career in the green industry.
• Comfortable talking with customers and making recommendations.
• Punctual, reliable, and ready to work each day.
• Able to stay calm and focused when the store gets busy.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly attitude.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift.
• Able to walk, bend, stoop, and stand for a full shift.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Variable schedule of about 25-30 hours per week, based on seasonal needs.
• Store hours: 9am-5pm, 7 days a week.
• Saturday and Sunday availability is required.
• Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather.
• This position is at our Seaside, OR garden center.
