Sales Associate - Biotechnology
Novoprotein | Boston/Cambridge, MA & Greater New England
Novoprotein is seeking a motivated and commercially driven Sales Associate to support the growth of our life science research and biotechnology product portfolio throughout the Boston/Cambridge biotechnology hub and Greater New England region.
This is a customer-facing, field-oriented sales position ideal for someone who combines scientific curiosity with a strong desire to build relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive sales growth.
The Sales Associate will be responsible for catalog product sales, developing new customer relationships, strategically engaging existing and prospective accounts, qualifying opportunities, and advancing sales from initial engagement through close/win.
The primary customer-facing territory will be Boston, Cambridge, Greater Boston, and Eastern Massachusetts, with travel throughout New England as needed. Additional geographic territory responsibilities may be assigned based on the successful candidate's location, experience, and business needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccount Development & Sales
- Conduct strategic analysis of biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, academic, diagnostic, and other life science accounts to identify potential customers, projects, and sales opportunities.
- Proactively prospect and develop new business with a self-motivated, hunter-oriented approach to identifying leads and establishing customer relationships.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with scientists, research teams, procurement organizations, and other stakeholders across assigned accounts.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads to determine customer needs, technical requirements, timelines, and commercial potential.
- Manage opportunities throughout the sales process, from initial customer engagement and qualification through quotation, follow-up, negotiation, and close/win.
- Generate and manage customer quotations and provide timely follow-up.
- Respond to customer questions and coordinate with internal technical and commercial resources when additional expertise is required to successfully advance an opportunity.
- Maintain consistent sales activity and pipeline management using CRM systems.
- Develop an understanding of assigned accounts, their research and development pipelines, and potential applications for Novoprotein products.
Customer Engagement
- Conduct customer meetings both virtually and in person, including introductory meetings, technical discussions, product presentations, and commercial follow-ups.
- Organize and participate in customer-facing Lunch & Learn presentations and educational events.
- Attend networking events and actively develop relationships within the New England biotechnology community.
- Represent Novoprotein at conferences, trade shows, vendor shows, and on-site vendor tabling events.
- Deliver professional sales and product presentations to prospective and existing customers.
- Develop relationships that position Novoprotein as a trusted resource for scientists and biotechnology organizations.
Territory Management & Travel
- Regularly travel throughout the assigned New England territory for customer meetings and business development activities.
- The majority of customer visits are expected to occur within Boston, Cambridge, Greater Boston, and Eastern Massachusetts.
- Plan customer visits efficiently to maximize account coverage and business development opportunities.
- Attend conferences and industry events throughout the United States as required.
- Opportunities for international conference travel, including potential travel to Europe, may be required depending on business needs.
- Work within a flexible hybrid environment combining remote work, field-based customer engagement, and activities associated with the Cambridge, Massachusetts office.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or another relevant scientific or business discipline.
- Ideally 2+ years of experience in biotechnology/life science sales, business development, or laboratory research.
- Candidates with strong laboratory experience who are interested in transitioning into a customer-facing commercial career are encouraged to apply.
- Biotechnology or life science B2B sales experience is preferred.

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every therapeutic modality; however, an ability and willingness to learn new technologies and communicate effectively with scientific customers is essential.
