Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide route relief for Sales Representatives during vacations and absences.
• Complete store resets to planograms and company standards.
• Merchandise products to company standards and build displays.
• Set up, staff, and tear down special events representing the company and brands.
• Maintain product inventory and communicate with store contacts.
• Assist with deliveries including unloading and checking in product.
• Support pricing changes, promotions, and point-of-sale materials.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers and resolve basic issues.
• Stay knowledgeable on products, pricing, and market conditions.
• Communicate route activity, reset progress, and event results to sales management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Watkins Distributing is a family owned and operated beverage distribution company that has serviced Idaho and Montana for four generations.

Job Summary

The Sales Assistant covers sales routes when Sales Representatives are out on vacations or other absences. When not covering routes, the Sales Assistant completes store resets, merchandises accounts, and works special events. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule that changes based on business needs, including early morning reset shifts and afternoon/evening event shifts.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide route relief for Sales Representatives during vacations and other absences, ensuring continuity of sales, merchandising, and customer service.
• Complete store resets as directed, including resetting shelves, cooler doors, and displays to planograms and company standards.
• Merchandise products to company standards, including stocking shelves, rotating product, and building displays.
• Set up, staff, and tear down special events, representing the company and its brands in a professional manner.
• Maintain product inventory levels while covering routes by monitoring accounts, placing orders, and communicating with store contacts.
• Assist with deliveries when needed, including unloading, checking in product, and ensuring accurate delivery.
• Support sales initiatives by executing pricing changes, promotions, and point-of-sale materials as directed.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing reliable service and resolving basic sales or service issues.
• Stay knowledgeable on company products, pricing, and market conditions.
• Communicate route activity, reset progress, event results, and issues to sales management.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Schedule

• Full-time position with a flexible, variable schedule based on weekly needs.
• Reset days may start as early as 4:00 a.m.
• Event days may run from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Preferred Skills & Abilities

• Prior experience in beverage sales, merchandising, resets, or delivery preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules, routes, and responsibilities.
• Reliable, flexible, and dependable with a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, including comfort interacting with the public at events.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Valid driver's license and clean driving record with no major violations.
• Must be able to lift, move, and merchandise cases ranging from 20 - 30 lbs. regularly. Tasks include bending, squatting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
• Work independently across multiple retail locations, traveling between accounts throughout the day.
• Event work may take place outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
