Specializing in water, energy, and waste management, Veolia designs and implements solutions for decarbonization, depollution, and resource regeneration. Veolia Water Technologies (WTS) brings together professionals tackling challenges related to water scarcity, quality, productivity, and energy. The goal is to create a more sustainable future.

The Sales Application Engineer for Industrial & Environmental (I&E) role at Veolia WTS’s Sievers Analytical Instruments (AI) focuses on supporting internal and external sales teams with advanced technical support and a strong customer experience. The role interfaces with product management, technology, field service, and factory service teams to maintain expert product knowledge. AI has a global presence with facilities in multiple countries; products are sold and serviced directly and indirectly by independent providers.

This is a remote-based travel position (roughly 50%), reporting to the I&E Sales Manager, with a matrix manager for duties related to service support. The role focuses on instruments for the Industrial and Environmental business vertical, including InnovOx products, TOC-R3, Boron and Boron Ultra, and M-Series.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the instrument sales cycle by sharing technical and application knowledge during sales meetings (onsite and remote); support instrument demos and trials in coordination with local sales representatives; own the application approval process from customer data collection to creating an approval form and sharing information with the aftermarket team to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Actively contribute to new applications development, working with internal teams and customers; provide value proposition and technical training to internal and external sales team members.
  • Develop training content capturing advanced troubleshooting and applications knowledge; train sales people, customers, field service engineers, specialists, and third parties globally; create supplement training materials for the industrial and environmental business; produce video content, presentations, virtual training, and documentation; engage with teams to anticipate needs and knowledge gaps; travel with internal personnel; participate in industrial and environmental meetings.
  • Create and maintain manuals distributed internally and externally; participate in meetings with various departments to maintain expert knowledge of assigned products and services.
  • Actively manage advanced technical or customer service cases; work with sales/service personnel or end users to resolve quality, service, or customer relations issues (phone/remote or on-site support; travel to customer sites).
  • Support the launch of new products via involvement in the NPI process: provide technical input during early design phases; communicate information across service organization; participate in testing procedures; conduct installations and validations for early instrument installs to build product knowledge, training, and service manual content.

  • Practical knowledge of analytical chemistry concepts and practices.
  • Understanding of process control, water systems, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to obtain technical information and disseminate it across the organization.
  • Ability to adapt technical information for diverse audiences with different cultural backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
  • Strong time management with ability to shift priorities to address quality issues and customer concerns.
  • Verbal communication and training skills to deliver effective training and presentations across the organization, partners, and customers.
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and cloud-based customer records software.
  • Project leadership skills to drive projects to completion.
  • Comfort with hand tools and diagnostic devices (e.g., multimeters, temperature verification devices); ability to disassemble and reassemble instruments and document the process.
  • Ability to travel 50%.
