Job summary

Weaver seeks a State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join the Sales and Use (Indirect) Tax division of our SALT practice. The Manager will work on multiple complex tax engagements and will contribute to the delivery of innovative sales and use tax planning ideas for our diverse clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA, CMI or JD.
  • 5+ years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Experience with indirect (sales & use) tax compliance and consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex indirect tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments.
  • Prepare complex tax research projects for clients across industries.
  • Mentor and manage a team of sales and use tax professionals.

Position Profile

Weaver seeks a State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join the Sales and Use (Indirect) Tax division of our SALT practice. The Sales and Use Tax Manager, in our State and Local Tax practice, will work on multiple complex tax engagements and will contribute to the delivery of innovative sales and use tax planning ideas for our diverse clients. This position offers a warm, successful and team-driven culture with excellent opportunities for career development and advancement.


Sales and Use Tax Managers have in-depth, first-hand experience in a wide range of industries. They draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide consulting services to corporate clients. Sales and Use Tax Managers identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. A Sales and Use Tax Manager's primary responsibilities include working on complex Indirect tax audits, managed audits, and recovery of tax overpayments (reverse audits). Additional responsibilities include preparing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries by researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues and tax implications. They will also lead projects and a team of sales and use tax professionals.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • CPA, CMI or JD

  • 5 + years of state and local tax experience in a public accounting firm, tax services firm or similar industry

  • Experience with a focus on indirect (sales & use) tax compliance and consulting


Prefered Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field

  • Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop staff

  • Strong relationship management and practice development skills

  • Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients


Compensation and Benefits

A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $175,000 in the California and New York Metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location.
