Sales & Operations Manager

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a driven and growth-oriented Sales & Operations Manager who can lead sales teams, build new markets, and ensure operational excellence. This role offers the chance to mentor high-impact teams while also developing your own book of business, coordinating closely with design and production, and driving customer satisfaction from initial contact to project completion.

Role Overview

The Sales & Operations Manager is both a mentor and a strategist. You will oversee inside sales, outside sales, customer service, and design teams while also ensuring smooth alignment with the production department. Beyond leadership, you’ll personally grow accounts, close deals, and expand market share.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate sales and support staff; Set performance goals, monitor KPIs, and drive accountability; Foster a collaborative, customer-first culture
  • Sales & Market Growth: Develop and execute sales strategies for new and existing markets; Manage and grow your own book of business with key accounts; Build long-term relationships with contractors, builders, and distributors; Lead negotiations and close complex deals; Create Bids & Estimates; Full cycle “Cradle to Grave” Sales
  • Operations & Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with production teams to ensure product feasibility, timelines, and quality standards; Collaborate with designers to support accurate quotes and custom projects; Oversee customer service operations to deliver seamless client experiences
  • Technical & Project Support: Read and interpret construction blueprints and project documents; Work with design teams on technical drawings and specifications; AutoCAD experience preferred, but not required
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reporting, and account metrics; Deliver performance reviews and strategy updates to leadership; Use data and analytics to refine sales and operational strategies
Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • 5+ years of sales leadership or sales/operations management experience in building materials, construction, or related B2B markets
  • Proven ability to manage inside/outside sales, customer service, and operations teams
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing your own book of business
  • Strong track record in market expansion and territory growth
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in forecasting, CRM systems, and KPI reporting

Preferred:

  • AutoCAD experience
  • Background in metals, roofing, siding, or other architectural/building systems
  • Familiarity with contractor and distributor sales cycles
  • Understanding of production/manufacturing processes and cost drivers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
